F1 was about being the best racing series. Best technology, best drivers. Not anymore.

Actually I agree with you 100%. I absolutely hate the fact that they have to make the cars slower to try and make it more "exciting" to watch.

In my opinion they should go back to V12's, turbos, traction control, ABS, active suspension...

I know someone is going to say "But they HAVE to limit it for SAFETY". I say bullshit, these drivers make tons of coin, it's like hazard pay, they know the risks when they drive.

I want to see cars race around a track at absolutely the fastest speeds that are possible with current technology.

KinseySS 03-20-2009 04:07 PM

Any one heard of them consider doing V6 turbos down the road?

CDN-R32 03-23-2009 01:28 AM

The new wins<points for the Championship is extemly lame, I hope they change this for next year. F1 was getting interesting again with so many possible drivers and teams now able to win and now this crap...

Luckily the new rules will be implemented in 2010. This year will have the same point system as the 08 season.

can't wait rule changes should make it interesting because none of the drivers are interesting like they used to be and im not talking about just schumacher he was just the last remaining interesting guy in f1

i like massa and all, and hamilton is ok(not a fan) but they don't have that charisma that drives me to see how they do in the race

anyway wooo friday

Good F1 sites:

http://www.formula1.com/ (good for technical reviews)
http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/index.shtml (Very up to date)
http://www.itv-f1.com (Very informed writers)
http://www.planetf1.com/ (Generally good)

F1 ceased to be fun to watch after Senna died & Murray Walker retired. :(

Vancouver240sx 03-24-2009 08:36 PM

ya and basketball died after MJ retired (for the 1st time) and Gretzky retiring made hockey "no fun"

Some old timers would say F1 wasn't the same after Fangio retired, or Jim Clark died, or Villenueve died.

Very good video reviews on every single race in 2008. It's from official Formual 1 website. The last race (Brazil) video is very good!

Agreed on many points. All said though, I think the new ruleset is a step in the right direction. IMO the biggest safety concern is created through high cornering speeds, so limiting aero grip (downforce) is not a bad thing at all.

Big power through forced induction? Not really necessary and kind of wasteful. 18000 rpm is still gooooooood ;D. I think turbocharging as a technology doesn't need to be optimized much further. Furthermore I do think that active suspension and TC should stay out. I think that they were developed well enough to be introduced on consumer automobiles and that a good way of controlling costs is to eliminate this stuff.

On the other hand, stuff like KERS is great - this could lead to greater advances to an already feasible, streetable technology. Right now the teams aren't on an even playing field, which is great as well.

REducing F1 to a spec series would be stupid. I still don't believe that there was that talk about going to a spec engine a few months ago. I hope that never happens.

Great68 03-26-2009 06:48 AM

In my opinion they've turned F1 into the Champ Car series.

Oh well, I will reserve full judgement until I watch a few races.

Hahaha I'm loving every bit of 2009 F1. Teams are accusing each other of cheating and the shitty teams from the past have been doing well during the practive laps and the best teams from the past are doing shitty!!!! SWEET....

well.. it's only Round 1-2 Practice .. wait until tonight Qualifying, things changed very quickly!

Great68 03-27-2009 01:03 PM

I can definately notice the 18,000 rpm limit, the cars just don't wail the same as last year.

They sound slower, but apparently they're just as fast, if not faster than last years cars!?!?

Last year during friday practice the fastest lap time was set by Kimi Raikkonen at 1:26.461. Yesterday the fastest lap was 1:26.053 by Niko Rosberg.

YO GUYS!!

Anyone know of a GOOD/FUN site for Formula 1 FANTASY-League(s)?

I'm using Yahoo Fantasy-Formula 1 and it's kind of lame, you only pick 3 drivers and a constructor..

Anyone have a better site or know of one?

Thanks!
