Honda tranny compatibility

I have a fuel injected 1987 Honda accord. Will the transmision from a 1987 twin carburated prelude fit?? It is 5speed.

its confirmed that they fit, just slightly different gearing and I gotta swap on the spedometer thingy

As long as the tranny came from an 83-87 Prelude, it will bolt up fine. The carbed Prelude motors were A18's and the Accords were A20's, pretty much the same family of motors.

I assume your accord is a 5 speed too?
the speedometer thingy does 2 things. 1- obviously drives the cable for the speedometer. 2 - controls the amount of flow for p/s fluid. (after 30 or 40 kph, i forget the exact number, the power steering assist is cut off to give better feel of the road)
I dont think 87 prelude carb version had p/s. So i'm not sure if there is a hole for the speed sensor to drop into. Then again, there might still be the hole there (in the prelude trans) but has just been capped with a plug.

Hey, nice to know what that thing does. Yeah there is a hole for it, I just unthread the speedo and the adapter thingy screws right in place. I hope to have the trans installed tomarrow, I'll see how things go.
