so if an officer tazered the man and he died, everyone will protest

if an officer shoots the man with a gun, he is accused by the "general public" that he used excessive force.

do you people expect the officer to just stand there and be stabbed?

Movies and TV shows have protrayed cops as such highly skilled fighting ninja assassins that the general public expect these police officers to be not scared of anything less then a gun. Bums are hard people to deal with most of the time. More often then not they will try to fight you if they feel that you're invading there space or taking something of theirs. Hopefully the shooting was justified... if not then....well i guess the powers that may be need to look into how to trade these officers better.

Taser would not be used because:
1) Not all VPD members have less-lethal training;
2) If she chose to use taser, she only had 1 chance to land the taser prongs. If the officer failed to do so, she would have no time left for any other force options.

Refer to #47 for the force options. Let's see how the investigation turns out.

that means you can use lethal force (because the other tools will not defend you, this is proven)

now in that 2-5 seconds that it takes for a person to charge at you from 20 feet, pull out a gun from a holster (yes you can have all the time you want to practice this)

and take aim (cause you have all the time in the world)

and shoot at his 5 inch leg so that you might disable him...........or better the arm that he is holding the knife in................or better the hand!!!!!!!!! g

I got one word for you then.................................

GOOD LUCK and see you on the other side when your dead!!!

wtfs... talk about trigger happy.. 4 shots??!! i mean 1 shot ok maybe but serisouly.. shit man i thot it was hard becoming a police officer... why the hell are there so many retards in the VPD

btw coroner-cuts2 has a good point but why 4 shots lol.. i understand if she shot once or maybe twice... that being said arent police officers suppose to be trained and ready for situations like this? also the article said 2 officers, so technically its a 2v1, in a fight i think the most ill get is stabbed once if my "trained" friend is there to back me up lol. Anyways there lot of factors... im not 100% siding police was wrong or right.. XD

It sfunny how so many people say they should hvae shot him in the leg I would really like to see one of you guys shoot a leg at a distance when your under pressure. if you miss one of those bullets is heading straight for an innocent victim. Cops are trained to shoot for the biggest target available and that happens to be the chest.
And also so many people say they should have used a taser but now since there has been such a huge outcry for the banning of tasers cops are hesitant to use them now and if they dont have the taser to use the next up from that is a gun. People and media make such a big deal about using tasers that now there is gonna be alot more dead bodies dropping because the cops arent gonna use a taser cause there scared a baton is not appropriate when the guy is coming at you with a knife because your risking yourslef injury and pepper spray is not going to stop someone from coming at you with a knife the momentum will carry through and they can still stab you.

vpd had to shoot a guy a couple years ago after dancing around the police car with him for 2 minutes because he had two steak knives. He then charged at one member...............she already had her gun out and shot him 4 times (one round in the abdonmen) a couple in the chest and one in the dick. the cop thought they missed him because he didnt go down he actually got on her and started to stab her...................her partner had to shoot the guy 14 times while the guy was ontop his partner stabbing her. then he fell over............

18 total rounds............the four she hit him didn't stop him at all
during the other 14.................. he was still stabbing her................

that is why you shoot until the threat is stopped..

Vancouver Police now say two female officers involved in a deadly shooting on Friday in Downtwon Vancouver were not equipped with tasers.

Constable Jana McGuinness adds police are waiting for autopsy results expected tomorrow on a man in his 50's.

His name won't be released until all of his next of kin have been notified.

cops not only just shoot bums because they are "less than human"
remember the case on Granville a few years ago? that big fat dude charging onto a MALE cop WITH A CHAIN! (there were like 4 of them if i remember correctly), and they still shot the shit out of him.

in this case, it was only 2 female officers vs. a bum with knife (who probably has AIDS, at least high chance)
my life vs. your life? i'd rather lose my job and not have AIDS for the rest of my life.

whoever has the balls to threat the police deserves the possible consequences that can happen to them, including death.

The MOST disturbing, and I mean, extremely disturbing part, is how they deleted the video evidence.

This should be shocking for all. Deleting evidence like this is like pouring lube on a slippery slope. Imagine if it were your mom, dad, brother, sister, friend, or relative that was shot by the police, and video evidence of it was deleted. You could choose to trust the police officer's version of events, but if they have nothing to hide, why delete the evidence?

Can we even believe that there was a knife? I know if I were a corrupt cop(and they are out there) I would carry a knife or some other weapon to plant on people after I had shot them.

Wait until you'd see how many marks you'd have by the time you got the pen away from me! I did some knife fight training years ago and my instructor put something like 40 stab wounds on be by the time I got it away from him.

Um.. do you know that bums don't give a fuk about their health. They shoot needles, and shot cum without washing their hands. Just that one knife could already consist of 10 permanent sickness.. such as HIV, AIDS, hepatitise C (ignor my bad spelling), rusted metal infection, etc. etc.

One slice of an infected knife is enough to turn you into something that everyone doesn't want to be around.

Come'on ppl, are you going to take the risk that the bum washes his hands after he pee? I'm not, so i'm going to save my own life.

Someone obviously gets their education on TV alone. Like someone already mentioned an example earlier, unlike what you see TV or movies, people don't always die on 1 shot, nor is it always debilitating.

Don't confuse homeless people with criminals; there are homeless people who are clear of their drug habits and line up at the soup kitchen for food instead of breaking into your car.
