Like Simplex123 said, none of the blackberry features will work unless you get the BIS from Fido.

If you want the BB PIN, browser etc to work then you have to tell them you have a blackberry or else none of the BB dependent features will work.
As for 3G, it will never work on Fido. Unless something got released that I don't know about, the ones from Europe and Verizon is a quad band GSM That's why the phone portion and EDGE will work. But the UMTS (3G) on the Storm only supports the 2100MHz band used everywhere else EXCEPT in North America. Fido and Roger's 3G runs on 850 MHz which the storm doesn't support. So that's why the current storms can't run 3G on Fido and Rogers. So like BCRDukes suggested, turn off 3G to save battery life because it'll never work in Canada.
