| blackberry storm on fido how do I get it to worK???
I can't get anything to work properly on the storm. I'm with fido. anyone know how to set this thing up? I can make calls but it only stays in edge mode (doesn't work in 3g.) Also the whole pin service thing doesn't work either. Neither does the browser etc. (I'm blackberry illiterate first one I got so its probably something easy to make it work) thanks in advance

same here! i dont even know what the hell "edge" is.
The phone was working properly, then all of a sudden i wasn't able to make outgoing calls or receive incoming calls. All i ever hear is the dial tone.

Do you have a BIS data plan?
Because browser and stuff doesn't work unless you have a data plan.

Options>Mobile /network>turn on 3g
Gotta update your firmware too. What kind of data plan do you have?

im on the city fido plan with the 8 gig data option. i didn't call fido to tell them I have a blackberry I want to use (had iphone before) do I need to call them? I already found the menu where it says 3g but when I click 3g it can't find the network.

FYI, not that any of you care anyways, but enabling 3G on a Blackberry will cause serious battery drainage.

As for 3G, it will never work on Fido. Unless something got released that I don't know about, the ones from Europe and Verizon is a quad band GSM That's why the phone portion and EDGE will work. But the UMTS (3G) on the Storm only supports the 2100MHz band used everywhere else EXCEPT in North America. Fido and Roger's 3G runs on 850 MHz which the storm doesn't support. So that's why the current storms can't run 3G on Fido and Rogers. So like BCRDukes suggested, turn off 3G to save battery life because it'll never work in Canada. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackberry_storm#SIM_Lock Substitute AT&T for Fido/Rogers because they run the same frequencies
