| How long does it take you to hear from Armbar / Kimura?
Just wondering how long it takes you guys to heal from an Armbar or Kimura.
Like if you are a slow tapper . . . and say you get hyperextended and such, how long does the pain last you guys?
1 week? 2 weeks?
Like for me, I have full movement, but I notice my elbow still hurts when I touch it and its been like a good 2 weeks.
I'm not pro at all when it comes to training, and only took basic classes awhile back and was just messing around with a friend the other day.

it depends on what you're doing to facilitate your body in healing. If you're not doing anything to help (massages and medicine), then it can take a few weeks for the body to heal up, especially if you're not giving the injured area a rest.
If its been 2 weeks and the pain isn't clearing up, I'd have it looked at. You might have injured it more than you think.

thanks for the reply man. 80% of the pains gone away. damn, i dont know how those guys do it. I've seen some guys not tap for bit longer than usual and they only feel pain for couple days.

^ maybe they are more used to armbars or have better flexibility so they can withstand the pain longer. Everyone heals at different rates though.
Hope it's nothing serious.

a lot of it has to do with how you deal with the pain, and knowing how you body will react to it. Being calm, loose and flexible goes a long way to being able to stand a lock like that and not tap out. Remember that these are locks, designed to give pain so you will submit, not to break your arm. If you resist and struggle, you may end up breaking something inadvertently. Quote:

The question is... why not tap sooner? If your just rolling with your friend for fun there is no shame in tapping in soon as you feel a decent hold in place. Leave your pride at the door there is no reason you should be injured if your just practicing. Also be careful who your rolling with, any idiot can do an armbar but knowing how far to push one is also something you learn all it takes is one overextension and you can out for weeks. Hell I've spent time just laying with my arm in the armbar position tapping when it hurt just so the other guy knows how much pressure is required to actually make someone tap without ripping their arm off.
Berz out.
