Saw it at EB for $29.99, might pick it up and button mash while drinking next week for shits'n giggles lol ... haven't touched a wrestling game since Smackdown back in 2000
I like that they're doing something different. Although it might be a case where they just want the crowd to chant something - and it is working so far. If that's the case watch him feud with 3MB or something
So WWE announced their new TV deal, a resign with NBCU where they receive 50% more than their last contract
Here's a cole's notes:
Vince was saying they expected their fees to increase by at least 100%. "I'll let you put me in a hammer lock if this doesn't happen" is what he said during a conference call
One of their execs said that they never claimed it would go up by that much... he was on that call so he is lying
They also said that the network would get 1 million subscribers by the end of the year. After WM it was at around 600K. Not a disaster but just barely. Also it's pretty much impossible for them to reach that number by the end of the year now. They cited a survey that did which said 100% of all homes in USA have wrestling fans who might buy the network.
Anyway, a 100% fee increase should have been feasible... WWE is one of the few shows people still watch live, so anything like that has been going up like crazy. NASCAR signed a huge deal, as did all sports. UFC also benefited from this with their deal with FOX. However, advertisers have historically shied away from wrestling. This tradition goes back to the 60's. They see it as low brow, attracting low income non-spenders. Basically the same audience as NASCAR.. Well NASCAR got a huge deal despite ratings going down. Even soccer got a huge deal, even though nobody watches it. For some reason, wrestling is just cursed I guess.
Vince will have a press announcement today, I guess to explain what's going on. The family are in protected positions (HHH is in talent relations, Stephanie is in branding) but other execs will likely be fired.
Should be interesting. I think considering the business they do, $10 a share is severely undervalued. But you can't apply logic to the stock market. People just follow the trends, and it rarely ever makes sense.
OK that's kind of a long Cole's Notes but there ya go
I agree, all 3 are very good. TBH I was getting bored of the group though, so I'm glad they split up. But still it'll be Rollins & Orton vs the others.. unless Ambrose turns this week? He will eventually, but maybe now is too soon. I assume Summerslam
