How much is AEW in Canada? I am watching it on Fite for $20 USD. Missed the first half hour (it started at 8am for me) but caught the end of the womens 4 way and it was awesome! Awesome Kong is back!
what a great show!
Cody and Dustin the feels. Dustin looks great for his age. all the call backs, crowd was super hot. JR i think is perfect to call this match as it is.
Jericho's new finisher sucks. I hated that match. Crowd went crazy at the end.
Loved the dirty deeds on the poker chips haha
I like that Jericho's new finish can be "from outta nowhere" and is being established as a legit main event finisher. I mean who saw him winning this match? And he did it with the new finisher? Amazing!
Watching some NXT Combine, it's pretty interesting to see who the real athletes are
Of course Bianca is tearing it up, god she is amazing, and Riddick Moss, but Jessie Elaban really caught my interest. Definitely going to pay more attention to her coming up! The big surprise is Aliyah... As far as personalities coming across, obviously Bianca and her husband are stars, but Xia Li comes across very well here too, and Bugenhagen. Lots of charisma on the upcoming roster, should be fun to watch in the coming months.
Also Bugenhagen with a 760 Lbs trap deadlift on completely rebuilt knees
Omari Palmer with 800 lbs deadlift... next Mark Henry?
Never been to a show here, no. But I'll be going to this one for sure.
Still researching which show to see when I go to Tokyo later this month. I'd love to see Meiko Satomura and she'll be on a men vs women show, so maybe I'll go see that. Been looking at other Joshi options as well, so I have to do some research. Tickets aren't cheap, even for small shows! lol
Apparently Goldberg fucked up and concussed himself on a turnbuckle in his match against taker. This had him pretty much out on his feet for the rest of the match. He botched his Jackknife, didn't set himself for the Tombstone properly, and just gave a shit performance after. A fan video shows him collapsing in the ring after the match.
When are they going to give up on these Old Guy matches? Seems they are very injury prone. HHH tore his Pec pretty bad last match.
Yeah I saw the footage. He almost killed Undertaker. Sucks because I think Goldberg could put on some entertaining matches if he works with someone who can still wrestle (assuming he doesn't give himself another concussion). I hope he comes back to redeem himself.
UT though, please retire before you or your opponent gets killed
Man I never have time to keep up with G1. I think I'll just wait until I hear what the good matches are.
BTW I never posted about the WWE house show I went to in Tokyo. It was fucking AWESOME! WWE live in Japan is a different experience from NJPW. crowd is super lively throughout the whole show. They love doing chants and cheering throughout matches, while NJPW fans are quiet except during high spots (where they lose their minds and go insane).
1) Ricochet defeated Cesaro to defend the US title. Great opener, both guys popular with Japanese crowd. Cesaro got heat with a post-handshake cheap shot after losing, and said he would win their rematch tomorrow
2) Brawn Strowman d. Robert Roode. This went very long, I expected a squash. Roode was a great chicken shit heel, but got quite a bit of offense. Brawn looks banged up, not moving smoothly. Brawn went for a second power slam after winning, but got beat up which kind of made him look stupid. Put Roode through a table at the end though
Tokyo crowd were into Brawn, but not his "get these hands" slogan. Same goes for anyone with an official chant. Seth tried to get a "Burn it Down" chant later, but they just won't do it.
3) Asuka and Kairi d. Iiconics with Kairi's elbow drop in a non title match. Obviously the local talent were over huge, but not as much as I thought they'd be. Asuka was more popular than Kairi, but overall in terms of Japanese talent, people were way more into Nakamura.
4) The Club with HHH d. McIntyre, Lashley, Corbin, Joe. HHH was the most popular performer by a huge margin. They announced the winners as The Club, and they were selling Club shirts with AJ's name on it, despite the reunion officially happening the next Monday. I bought the Club shirt
AJ was probably the third most popular after HHH and Nakamura. Lots of AJ STYLES chants. Joe was also popular at his intro. JOE! JOE! JOE! JOE!
Corbin got more heel heat than anyone on the show. Every time he stepped into the ring, people booed immediately, and the long intro got booed big time. WWE has been working hard at turning his X-Pac heat into actual heel heat, and it's working with this crowd, at least.
Revival d. Ryder and Hawkins to defend the titles. Revival are complete over the top 70s style heels and it was fucking great. They worked their assess off, and got Hawkins and Ryder over huge. I loved this match. I think I was literally the only person cheering for The Revival, and it was fun. I had about 3 Chu-His by this time
The Club came to the rescue after a post match beat down, and the revival offered them a title match the next day if they beat Hawkins and Ryder first.
Becky Lynch d. Alexa to defend the Raw title. Becky wasn't nearly as popular as I thought she would be. Not much heat at all. A lot of people liked Alexa. Nobody thought Alexa would win, since it doesn't make any sense in the storyline so no heat for the match. Kind of disappointing.
Main Event Seth d. Nakamura to defend the Raw title
THEY TORE THE FUCKING HOUSE DOWN. Fucking AWESOME match, and if this was on a PPV, it would be talked about as a match of the year contender.
They played a TV commercial featuring Nakamura before the intros. Nakamura over HUGE but not as big of a pop as HHH. Not even close. Dueling chants the whole time. Despite also not fitting into storylines, people bought near finishes this time, and the crowd was going insane for the last few minutes of the match. I loved chanting for Rollins in Japanese "lollins" and was part of a small group of Rollins fans duel-chanting against Nakamura fans. Got high fives when he won.
Great fun night, packed house, unique atmosphere of being in a Sumo hall. We were sitting in a 4 person spot on the ground, pretty cool.
damn that sounds fantastic. Kairi hasn't built up the popularity in Japan as Asuka or Nakamura has.. makes sense.
Now i really wanna see this Nakamura vs Rollins match, becuz in my own opinion, both these guys can put on a hard hitting, entertaining match. Rollins may be the most gifted wrestler in the main event scene in WWE right now by work rate.
A match from G1 so far.. Ishii vs Jeff Cobb
Ishii is the MVP of the G1. and has been for 2 years now.
