It may not look that great exteriorally, but I drove a prev. gen. Fusion many times, and those cars drive pretty well. I was surprised on the handling and comfort of the car.
I even rented one to drive down to Kelowna and back once..Hope this new generation will drive the same, cuz it was great. Changed some of my views on domestics; but thats just some, not all. |

So some are definetely going to drive the new ones. | yup. i work there. but we won't be seeing a whole slew of them as they won't update the fleet for a while. but that doesn't mean one shouldn't stop suspecting a 2010 fusion of being a ghost car.

The one to get is the Fusion Hybrid.
Totally wipes the floor with the Camry Hybrid and Accord Hybrid. Who would believe that Ford could top Toyota with a superior hybrid system?

I know I sound biased because I sell them, but I am truely impressed with the new Fusion/MKZ/Milan (even tho we don't have mercury in canada)
I've always believed that imports generally have better interior quality than domestics (and you pay extra for it too), BUT if I covered up the Ford/Lincoln logos in a 2010 MKZ/Fusion, and you sat in them and felt everything you'd SWEAR it was a euro or jap car. The product quality has gone WAY up in the last couple of years. I think if you drove a TL and Fusion back to back, you might have trouble justifying spending the extra money for a TL unless you are a diehard Honda/Acura fan. I will admit that Ford blatantly ripped of the Altezza tail lights for the original Fusion, and the TL came out with the ridiculous chrome front end first, so yea there is definately some copycating going on there. (but what else in new in the automotive world.)

Yes, unfortunately, building a hybrid is simply more expensive than building a high performance gas-only version. All the manufacterers are doing their best to keep the prices low vs what the demand is, but you cannot sell product at a loss.
If you have enough money to afford a $39,000 car, you can probably afford $1800+ a year on gas for a 3.5L V6 sport vs the 2.5L 4cyl hybrid at $900+ a year in gas.
The people that really need hybrids can't afford them. I really wish the government would chip in and say *NO GST* on hybrids. That would help.

^ exactly because I did the math on this before for the Camry base vs hybird I got to (with my commute) go 4 years (at the current gas prices) then I get savings which is dumb because in 4 years I would already be looking for a new car. And to add on top no one knows how hybirds will hold up. The 1st gen prius owners are saying that milage is not as good as before, could it be just normal wear and tear or batteries are taking a toll.
