Or you can just put in mid grade becase thats what it is a blend of premium and regular.

Holly: you will do fine on 91 with a non-turbo car. if you are still pinging, change all your fuel filters, as a clogged filter can starve the engine by restricting flow.

if you have a turbo engine, it should still run fine on 91 as long as it is bone stock, but for the 3 or so cents a litre i'd just go with 94 for the piece of mind.

it's actually much much better if you buy 87 octane and boost it up from lordco with octane boosters.

Since your model is NA and your ECU is stock, you'll be fine with 91 octane. You should really consult the 300zx websites on car specific questions instead of revscene.

Kinda... Here's the Coles Notes of it:

If your car states that it "Requires Regular unleaded", you're fine putting in 87. If it "Requires Premium," your minimum octane is 91. If it "Recommends Premium," you can put in Regular as the car will adjust the timing to prevent detonation, though at a possible loss of horsepower and/or fuel consumption.

Conversely, putting 94 octane into an engine that only requires 91 or less can also have an adverse effect. Higher octane means a higher detonation point. An engine that is designed to run on a lower octane needs to run hotter in order to try to burn the higher octane. As a result, you end up with hotter engine temperatures, more unburnt fuel going through your exhaust (which will lead to a premature death on your cats), and worse fuel mileage.

The only reasons why you would put higher octane into your engine than what the manufacturer recommends is if you've modified it in such a way that you have higher compression, and/or are running some type of forced induction.

Please tell me you are joking, and don't actually believe that...!!!

Octane boosters only boost it by points... so if you add a 7 point octane booster to 87 octane... you only get 87.7 octane, not 94. Add the cost of the booster, and it's WAY cheaper to buy the higher rated octane to begin with.

If you're looking for a cheap alternative to boost your octane ratings - google Toluene. But be careful with it

Oh, and btw... there's only one refinery in Metro Vancouver - it's Chevron. Care to take a guess where all the gas around here comes from???

^the only difference is the additives each company adds to their fuels if i am not mistaken.

As I understand it, that's correct. The additives are a very, very small amount... so effectively, it's all the same crap you buy no matter where you buy it.

according to this http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/2008s...an&model=300ZX
you DO need premium (which sucks imo considering your car was only making 220 hp from the factory.. not bad for the time but still..)
but that only equates to 91 octane

so stick to the 91 and you should be fine.. while saving a few pennies i think

uh.. bone stock i think you're still fine with 91 on a turbo z as well
94 wouldn't hurt but i would think they designed it to run on 91

you have to keep in mind that there are worldwide markets out there that don't even have gas with as high an octane rating as our 94..so unless Nissan tuned the TT to our particular market with 94 in mind you should be absolutely fine with 91 because that's what everone else is forced to run! (read Lomac's post above^)

someone correct me If I'm wrong
