Before and After of the 250 Ninja

Before, you can kinda see where the fairing was all busted up (it was in about 10 pieces in those pictures, just kinda jigsaw puzzled together):

And after a whole lotta acetone (solvent welding) and ABS (heat welding) fumes, and lots and lots of goo gone (stripping the purple decals) this is what the little project came out like:

All in all I'm pretty happy with my results, for 38 dollars worth of spray bombs acetone and scrap ABS to make a filler paste with (beats buying a new fairing).
I even shaved the indented areas where the stock turn signal pods mounted (broken from the drop) so the flushmounts sit all nice and purdy).
All thats left is a little wetsanding and polishing and it'll be golden.
If I can find them I'll throw up the during pictures as well.

Deffinately enjoying this bike too, since I insured it on monday i've put on over 1k KM (without any destinations)

nice work man!

my ex dumped her bike and broke the fairing in the exact same place as yours. punched in the signal mount too. we did things the hard way and used a bonding agent and then bondo and a full paint job on the bike. she sold it before she ever rode it after we put it back together..

i was gonna just bondo it and such, but then I thought about it and realised it was ABS plastic, which i've done repairs on before (my car fenders are made of ABS)

Those night shots make that red look really clean. My friends and i had the ninja Ex250 as our first bike. I think it was a 88? Fun bike, nonetheless.

the second night shot pic is the most accurate representation of the red that the bike is (the colour matching camera listed it as a ferrari colour :O)
The only difference between the '88 and the '98 (mine) is they made some improvements to the ignition system (and bold new graphics)

I'm debating pulling off the wheels when i take the bike outta comission for a few days to do some work on it (valve adjustment, carb synching, flush the coolant, oil change, air filter, new brake fluid, swap in my zx600 rear shock, change the fork oil) and repaint the wheels flat black. I've got some red reflective wheel pinstripes I'd chuck on over them. I'm just not sure if the paint will bond well to it or if I should go through the cost/effort of powdercoating them

we did the zx600 rear shock on her bike too. made a huge improvement. you should look into doing a 1" PVC spacer in the forks to firm things up when you do the fork oil, and get abit thicker oil while you're at it to get a little bit better damping.

you can also relocate your rear signal bulbs into the outside 2 lenses in the tail light with abit if ingenuity.

I was thinking about swapping the bulbs to the 2 spare pods, but for the amout of time i'll probably have the bike I couldnt be bothered to do it.
Looks like i might be doing all the work on my bike this weekend since its not holding its idle very well anymore (let it idle for 30 seconds-1min and the idle will slowly drop off and stall)

I think you could get a close enough effect by removing the fairing, fenders, and windshield, and painting it flat black

I want to buy a bike now

Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

Yeah me too. It actually reminds me alot of the Triumph Speed Triple and Street Triple, two of my fave bikes (which look amazing in person but are deffinately not remotely photogenic)
for reference (a nice set of bar-end mirrors does them a huge favour too):
street triple

speed triple

Yeah I love the Triples. I definitely don't like those rear fenders or mirrors though. Too expensive for me too

I like it stock, but theres no more purple decals to match the rims. Maybe paint the rims glossy black?
