Muffler shops to get my exhaust fixed?

Well when i accelerate i hear this rattle sound...ling ling.. so it fucken annoys me like hell. So im assuming one of the welds are off and wondering who i can go to, to get it lifted and fixed.

Thanks.

k2_alpha 04-19-2009 11:44 PM

it is most likely your heat shield

if so, any shop can fix it for you.

RenoMan 04-19-2009 11:48 PM

well its a 98 prelude and i actually jacked it up to see and jiggled it and i can hear that sound but still not sure. Anyways how much is fix like this and recommendations on what shops?

illicitstylz 04-20-2009 12:58 AM

i've had this before, turns out it was a stupid rock that got into my exhaust. the mechanic just told me to rev it hard and it just came out lol.

RenoMan 04-20-2009 01:23 AM

recommendations people? i doubt i have a rock

Drift_Monkey 04-20-2009 02:10 AM

i had this b3fore, and thought it was the heat shield. so i cut the shield off, but it was the cat converter. i'm glad my cat still had warranty for a 2003 vehicle

i'd say the same thing
that or your cat
or the heat shield on your cat

is your exhaust stock?

?NR 04-20-2009 06:22 AM

haha ling ling.

RenoMan 04-20-2009 03:02 PM

haha ling ling... no my exhaust is not stock. i think its a full greddy exhaust system
, how much is it to replace the cat?

..::lazybum::.. 04-20-2009 03:08 PM

well.. if you havent already gone to a place, just come to my work.

budget brake and muff diving ....
If its just the heatshield we can rip it off easily.. but try to explain the sound youre hearing..ranther than .. ling ling.... lol!
If its a ting ting...ahaha.. youre looking at the heat sheild or your engine is pinging. Does it do it when youre going say.. up a hill or the car is under a bit more stress?

lemme know!
( oh and if your ein the abbotsford area im at this budget:D )

RenoMan 04-20-2009 05:52 PM

damn it your so far..... lazybum ... the best way i can describe is ling ling ling...its does tend make the sound when i acelecrate at about 0-2500 rpm and then after its gone. I go up a hill and it does that more so i have no clue...maybe i m gona record it n let you guys hear it in a couple of days. Also when i start my car it fine and when i rev it high it doesnt make the rattle sound at all.

Peturbo 04-20-2009 06:29 PM

I had something very similar before. It only rattled at about 1.5k-2k rpm for me.
It ended up being a bolt not holding the top half of the heat shield with the bottom half properly.

If you're looking for recommendations for a place to fix it you should probably state where you live.

RenoMan 04-21-2009 02:35 PM

o yah forgot ... PNE area

..::lazybum::.. 06-01-2009 09:31 AM

This is prrobobly REALLY late. BUT

The ling ling ling sound.. are you sure its not a pinging sound?
It happens usually when the vehicle is under some stress? for example, a hill.

It could be an engine ping. Unless it was your cat or just a heat sheild. Lemme know if youve figured it out!

ilvtofu 06-01-2009 04:40 PM

ling ling? ping ping? ting ting?

I needa get my exhaust fixed too, newhere in vancouver, burnaby richmond i guess

mine doesn't ling or ping it roars!

BEEB 06-01-2009 09:02 PM

if you still hear it when u wiggle it on jackstands, adjust the hangers yourself. Or get new and polyurethane hangers.
If it only happens when you drive, check the front portion of the catback, it's probably the vibration from the engine.

GordonTse 06-01-2009 11:25 PM

i get a lot of ling ling lings, ping ping pings and ting ting tings at work. it's always either the heat shield and the clamp rings rusted loose(cut off rusted one and put new clamp), or the rings around the ends of the flex pipe(cut them off), mostly 03-06 altima's.

Curtis@advmotors 06-01-2009 11:59 PM

advance motor in coquitlam :)

..::lazybum::.. 06-02-2009 11:54 AM

budget brake & MUFFLER
All over BC ;)

anyways, MOST common linglings , pingpings and ting tings on a cars exhaust or relating to exhaust is

Cat
Engine Pinging
Loose Hanger
Heat sheild
or youre just hearin sh!t . :p jk

RenoMan 06-02-2009 12:38 PM

it all started with me going over the overgrown bumps from my car being so low causing me to scrape . i know is coming from the middle of my car so im guessing something is lose or my heat shield or my cat

..::lazybum::.. 06-02-2009 12:58 PM

maybe you scraped the heat sheild and now its lose! maybe its a super duper easy fix! :D

you 06-02-2009 01:12 PM

dude its just ur heat sheild calm down

i had the exact same prob before so i know...u said the sound is only there till 2.5k then goes away after right...my money is on ur heat sheild

jack the car up, go underneath ur car, have someone slowlyyyyy rev it for you until u start hearing the sound...on ur heat sheild for sure

..::lazybum::.. 06-02-2009 01:41 PM

how about just rip it off? :P
Doesnt do anything if its off.
If that doesnt work then lemme know! :)

p.s. dont rip it off after youe driven it ;)
