You get a job.
I bought a new Civic at 18.
It's not that hard. Bad idea, but not impossible.
Then I sold it and bought a whole bunch of parts for my 240 and multiple cars, and now I'm 20 and broke.
I'm totally attention whoring this thread btw.

It's so nice to not have a richmond up here in squampton to drive up the rates.

I pay under $150 now for the Genesis with full coverage and i'm not even at 43% yet haha.

personally if you want a car i think you should pay for insurance and other things, but that's how my family works. I was 18 when i first got my car, and i wasn't ready. you might want to reconsider a few things.

can you imagine asking your parents for money to buy a catback exhaust or some wheels? lol

i do pay for insurance and other things, i can't really afford to mod it haha. it probably isn't the smartest idea for an 18 year old kid to have car but everyone wants a car at this age because there's so much freedom instead of riding transit

Luckily there's no richmond on Vancouver Island as well...

I ended up paying around $150 a month for my Turbo Supra/RX-7, with full coverage and at a 10% discount.

My Twin Turbo 300ZX will cost about 1500-1700 per annum to insure (with full coverage, 10-15% discount and insured for an "N" driver).

Well, $2800 was only 25% earlier this year. My discount went up to30% after, but I mean, 5% more is barely a difference when I renew next.
But yeah, that was a shocker to me too..plus when I insured it, I had to fork out another $710 to get the Replacement Policy through the insurance company, which in the end, is a FRACTION of the price ICBC wants for their policy.

And no, I did not have mommy and daddy reaching into their pockets! There's such thing as working and SAVING money.

Agreed. When I was shopping for my car, I looked at insurance costs for everything I was in the market for. I was looking at preludes, then I was shocked at the insurance costs. I mean, when your car isn't worth that much, paying $2-3Gs a year is a lot of money.
