| Pyramid Business
Wasnt too sure where this would belong, but I thought I'd ask about these types of businesses, and people's general opinion of them.
Basically you sell stuff from Nutrilite? From my understanding you go to board plans, meet people, recruit people etc
If you want you can branch off into your own partnership with one or multiple partners? However the more you recruit the more money you make and there are bonuses if you get people to sign on
The only 2 I know of are Amway and quixtar.
If anyone knows what I'm talking about, do you know anyone thats in the business, know anyone that succeeded?
Briefly discuss

People often mistaken Pyramids for MLM (Multi-level Marketing).
They are completely different, my friend.
Personally, MLM doesn't work unless it's a attractive product, and that you're in the "beginning" stages of the expansion, otherwise, good luck trying to build your wealth if your stuck in the "middle/bottom".

I dont even know what its called.
Im not involved, but I've heard alot about it, and have met a few people who are 30 and retiring very soon

I know of 2 people that succeeded in Amway but its a shit ass way to make a living IMO. You have to constantly recruit and hold little business "meetings" where you bring people in and give them a big pitch on making easy money. If your a salesman it might work for you but other than that its NOT the easy money it's made out to be.
Berz out.

i've been to a quixtar meeting.. it was hillarious..
the dude offered me energy drinks for my time, and said how good it was ...
haha n then he got offended when i said no thanks to his business venture...
i search on rs for quixtar and found some details- that was my research...

Quixtar is a MLM business not a Pyramid scheme.
I dunno if everyone understands what is a pyramid scheme
But Yeah, I've heard of Quixtar, the system seems pretty lame. You earn money from retail profits, and recruiting people who want to be part of the business. You only earn down to the sixth generation and beyond that you won't earn anything from them. Which doesn't give you much benefit to care bout the 7th generation.
Also, everyone sales travel upward, which is where the residual comes in, but you need to buy x amount a month to be able to qualify for residual.
I never cared for their system. I was part of a similar company before called Market America. They're bigger than Quixtar, though still a product brokerage company which you gotta really believe in their products to do well in the business. Also the business concept is pretty different from traditional so it scares some people.
Another one I've heard of is Primerica. I recall they're a Insurance company which sales their own products. I've met some ppl from their office. A lot of them have a very casual attitude to the business and don't really generate income. Last i heard they're about to go under, since the company that owns them Citigroup got hit pretty hard.
But yeah, I'm interested in hearing what other companies you guys have heard about. And your experiences

One could argue that most business are a pyramid scheme. I mean, you work at McDonalds and you're working your ass off for a store manager who works for the regional manager who works for the CEO etc.
The guy at the top is making millions while the guy at the bottom is flipping burgers. The guy flipping burgers might hope to be a CEO one day but that's just not going to happen.
MLM programs are only good if you are extremely excited about a sales position and you are very good at it. Don't ever buy into the hype that it is easy because it is not. Yes, they tell you about passing it down to your children etc but it's a lot of work. They usually have a very high energy and upbeat atmosphere which is nice and all but if you're looking to make a quick buck, don't bother.
WFG, Quixstar, Primerica, the list goes on and on. They aren't bad per say, just make sure you know what you're getting yourself into.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I guess you're right, they do make it seem like anyone can do it.
The people I've talked to say that your outcome depends on how much time and money you put into it. I've thought about doing it before, I've been to a few of the board plans but it never really caught on with me, maybe I'm a little more traditional (like most)
Anyway, I'd still like to hear some success stories just for the hell of it

Anyway, I'd still like to hear some success stories just for the hell of it | Well it's your level of belief in whatever system you decide to follow. I don't think a lot of ppl can do these business unless they get to the breaking point at their current job or lifestyle. Plus I dunno how old you are draft, but majority of people that actually do well in any of these businesses are 25+ and been in the workforce for a few years and don't see themselves slaving away for the next 30 years.
But yeah, some of these business are expensive, I think Quixtar you gotta cough up over $1,000 upfront (sign up, buy products, etc.)
I do know a success story from someone I was working with in Market America. Basically he's a computer software engineer making bout $60,000/yr and he came from a family that had to grind for every penny through their restaurant business. His parents pretty much worked nearly 16 hours a day at their restaurant and eventually his mom started having some skin problems that couldn't be cured by traditional/modern medicine.
He was introduce to MA bout 3-4 yrs ago, and he saw the power of the business, blah blah. He got his mom one of the products and within weeks her rashes were cure and all the old scars were healed. That's when he develop his belief in the business. Now 4 years later, he's got a strong team working with him and making bout $2,100/week in passive income.

It's all about how well you can sell -
Then again if i was a great sales person - i wouldn't even get into this business.
Realtor, Commisioned Corp. Agent, Car salesmen of a high end luxury.
I'd choose those over these schemes.

My friend worked for Primerica for a few months. She dropped out of it I think because she felt bad for having to "sell" to everyone she knew. If you can't take that, MLM is not for you.
Google Primerica, Amway, etc. You'll see a LOT of negative press. If you're going to start your own business, there's a lot more reputable ways to do it than through MLM.
