| Selling items to someone who lives in the states
I want to sell something and want to get it across the border. Is it possible that I do not get taxed on it? The item is really big and I can't and don't want to hide it.
What if I get the guy to come up to pick it up. Does he get taxed in this case?

why would you get taxed on it when you are exporting?
just ship with canada post and avoid fedex/ups/dhl etc
or you could drive down the border then ship it.

if you ship from canada, you will not get taxed, and the recipient will have a chance that he/she will get taxed

The person importing the item would be responsible for taxes and duties.
You bring it across the border and deliver it = you are the importer to the United States.
He picks it up in Canada and drives it across = he is the importer.
You ship it across the border to him = he is the importer.

That's the documentation fee.. it goes on top on the taxes and duties. Quote:

Can't do that.. you will already be in the custody of the border agency.. that's why the turn around lane is before the guard shacks. Quote:

It's all depending on the value you give the item.
If it's worth $100, you get taxed on the $100. Granted, there have been situations where customs has applied their own value. It's BS, but it's in their power to do so.
Bottom line, you can't cross the border with items for sale, without paying some sort of tax and duty.
