Cold symptoms for Dogs?

I've got a Golden Retriever and she's a little over 8 years old now. Just yesterday we noticed that she stayed in her doghouse all afternoon (My mom doesnt want her inside, so shes an outside dog) She wouldnt move much as if her muscles were sore and she had her head down all day.
I checked on her this morning and she was still moving really slowly, my dad says its probably just a cold, but because she's never been sick before, so im wondering what kind of symptoms dogs have for colds? =s
She's much better now cause she would actually run around, but if it gets worse again i'll take her to vet tmw.

thxx.

Dogs don't get colds per say. They can have days where they don't feel well especially as they get older. If they eat something that doesn't agree with them or pull a muscle they may act in that very way. To rule out a muscle just coax them to move a bit. The bottom line is you know your dog trust your instincts. I have prevented big deathly issues just by doing that, it does not mean run off to the vet every time an older dog seems off
