UBC/SFU: Does a Minor appear on diploma?

I was wondering if anyone knew if you complete a minor, does it appear on your degree? or will it just say your Major?

Thanks

I dont think it even says your major, just your faculty.

Really? Wow... How do people know what you majored in then?

You tell them. Either verbally or via your resume.

" I'm BA in chemical radiology and a minor in neural psychology " - - thats how u say it!!

It will show up on your transript, but not your degree. That is the case for UBC, at least.

Does your major show up on the degree atleast?

Someone here fails at reading.

The fancy piece of paper you frame is called a Diploma, and no it does not say. If will say at most which faculty and whether or not you graduated with Honors. If they want real proof you graduated with whatever major or minor, that probably means they want a lot more detail than just what you majored or minored in. You'll show proof of that through your transcripts.

Wait... mines says my faculty and also the name of my degree (major)....

It's a degree from UBC

maybe it varies between faculty?

twitchyzero 05-09-2009 09:21 PM

^ perhaps if it's professional and not general studies it differs?

Yes it is. It's the plural form of the word mine. As in coal mines, diamond mines, land mines, etc.

I believe professional degrees at UBC indicate the major on the diploma. Technically, it isn't really a "major" per se, because professional programs usually have a set of course requirements that are vastly different from other major programs.

For example, a Pharmacy graduate will recieve a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. A Nursing graduate will recieve a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. A Chemistry major on the other hand will recieve a Bachelor of Science.

In your case, if you are in the natural sciences, your degree will likely say "Bachelor of Science". If you are in the social sciences/humanities your degree will likely say "Bachelor of Arts". If you have completed a Honours program it will be on your degree too.
