I bet most people who failed the 996, have never driven one.

I enjoy this thread, I always find the pictures of local vehicles entertaining.

That said, I hate the attitude certain people who frequent it have. If a vehicle isn't a true exotic or something with a cult following, like the E46 M3, the poster is almost guaranteed a parade of fails. It's a bit silly, really. People are so harshly critical and negative for no reason. I doubt anyone would here would scoff at the opportunity to take a 996 for a spin.

+1
having owned a 996 c2 in the past, and now currently a e46 m3
the 996 sure was a fun car with power everywhere in the powerband :fullofwin:

if possible id like to find a 996 gt3 mk1, love that look

Would easily fail both posts. There are tons of "nice" cars like the 996 or E46 M3, but they just aren't worth posting anymore, at least not in Vancouver. That's the only reason I failed it, and I would just as easily fail an E46 M3 etc, it has nothing to do with having driven one or not it's the fact that people post cars in this thread that you see every other block in nicer parts of vancouver. It's sad how personally people take fails around here

Harvey Specter 04-26-2012 10:29 PM

There should be no fails in a "sick" car thread.

LP700-4 04-26-2012 10:37 PM

Like i said before, some people on here are way too picky about the content posted here. ITs either shitty pic or shitty car.

failed that post first person and i have driven many porsches myself. i love them in fact.

but come on, we can do better than a silver 996 carrera with black calipers in this thread. lol

I think a lot of you are a bit entitled and spoiled, being Vancouverites. If it's not a bright coloured new exotic then no one really cares.

mnash 04-27-2012 07:56 AM

Right, lets post EVERY STOCK Cayenne , BMW 7er , S/CL class benz, Range Rover, Boxster, Mustang, Camaro, S2000, STI etc. Those are super nice cars and are considered exotic in some parts of the world) Damn, people would kill for a new Camaro in my hometown, seriously. Thread was called "Sick cars" for a reason.

Gumby 04-27-2012 08:48 AM

Sounds like this thread (or forum) needs to have the FAIL button removed...

Although it's not an extremely rare car, a 996 is much less common than the new Camaro and definitely the Cayenne.

I took a picture of a S2000 CR that I saw last week, I considered posting it in this thread, but chose not too since when Jpark posted a CR he received an avalanche of fails. An S2000 CR is a pretty sick, very rare import and totally deserving of this thread (699 total built)... but Japanese not Italian soo...

I'd be in favour of dropping the fail button in this forum.

In the town I'm from(grande prairie population of maybe 100,000 in the metro area) The only porsche cayman I seen was in a mall. But coming here really has made me jaded to sports cars that aren't worth 200,000$... Hell, back home I'd turn my head for a 300zx or a Corrado. In fact, I only seen one in my life before moving here.

It must have been someone else. It was a shot of an ABP on one of the DT bridges I think.

I agree, if it's not something rare/exclusive/special no one cares, for obvious reasons. The rare/exclusive/special is all relative to the audience, if it's something that we see literally everyday it's not rare/exclusive/special, it's the sad reality and that is why you were failed, perhaps in a different city a standard 996 would be considered special, just not in this one. This doesn't mean that I think it's a crappy car or anything even remotely like that. I'm just sorry I upset you or Z3guy and I sincerely apologize, but I stand by my opinion of what is and isn't post worthy and I feel I have the right to express that even if some people disagree. If you're going to make a post on this forum you have to own it and accept any thanks/fails you may receive.

tofu1413 04-27-2012 10:47 PM

so an 8 series doesnt count as sick? :okay:
