LP700-4 04-08-2014 10:49 AM

Its a Conquest Evade. Thing is fully armored and rock solid.

I think SR's had it for a bit of time now.

boostfever 04-08-2014 10:54 AM

Armored cars are not allowed in Canada.

I think vehicle armor is like bullpup rifles.
If they're from the factory, you're good to go, but you can't retrofit armor on a vehicle that wasn't built like that.

Don't take my word for it, but chances are the laws are similar.

in corrected, technically it is allow with a license. not hard to get if you already have a firearm license

LP700-4 04-08-2014 11:55 AM

Actually i stand corrected.

Upon further research looks like the Evade is the non-armored version, rather their Knight XV is the one that is fully armored.

I know for sure its not road legal though, SR had to tow it to the shows.

kwy 04-08-2014 11:58 AM

You can't just throw out an all-encompassing umbrella statement out like "Armored cars are not allowed in Canada." There are a number of situations where they are legal..

ever seen a bank truck?

Who Does Not Require an Armoured Vehicle Permit

police officers
individuals with a valid security worker licence with licence type ‘armoured car guard and/or security guard’ who operate an armoured vehicle during the course of their employment under the security licence
individuals who must operate armoured vehicles in the course of their employment as a Provincial or Federal government employee or government corporation employee
diplomats
licensed vehicle salespersons or registered motor dealers
certified mechanics with repairer’s licenses
operators of antique-plated armoured vehicles
operators of military vehicles covered by the federal Defense Production Act. (The full list of those exempted and conditions place on those exempted are listed in Sections 2 and 3 of the Armoured Vehicle and After-Market Compartment Control Regulation)

You can fill out the application if you need to own/operate an armoured vehicle.

And for the record, I do know several people who legally own and drive armoured vehicles, and they are civilians, not gov't workers.

trollguy 04-08-2014 12:15 PM

i hope you copy and pasted that

What about the Bacon brothers armored BMW 7 series? It was modified afterwards and clearly he drove and insured it. He would had to have insurance because it was a leased vehicle.

Here is the Act that kwy is referring to: http://www.bclaws.ca/civix/document/...atreg/10008_01

No one knew that car was armored until the cops found it and seized it. That car was on eBay months after, being sold to a buyer outside of Canada only, as it could not be registered in Canada now that they knew it was armored.
