Let's just say there's been a lot of improvements in the spray polymer business.
Finishes are getting smoother and smoother, glossier and glossier. It's beginning to be difficult distinguishing between Plasti Dip and traditional vinyl wraps. Polymer coatings are technically better in all aspects - the time required to finish the car, not having to remove body panels, cost effectiveness, color spectrum, and durability.
See the images above? It's not paint, that's Plasti Dip. If services like that are offered it's definitely cheaper than a vinyl wrap costing $3-4K and saves you a ton of money from getting an actual repaint. Not many people end up keeping their cars long enough to justify an actual automotive repaint since it costs too much anyways.
On another note: Plasti Dip does suck if you stick with the DIY equipment and have very little experience applying it. 95% of Plasti Dip jobs I've seen in public are pretty terrible. There's a chameleon 3-series running around Burnaby and it looks terrible
wow thats pretty damn fantastic. now if all those shitty fucking plastidip shitbox supercars in richmond could get the memo and fix their janky looking 100k cars
How much does a full Plasti Dip job of that quality cost?
depending on the vehicle i'd say just do it yourself.
My dad did his rocker panels and front bumper of his car himself to drive it up to kelowna, looked perfect in a matte black and he has little to no experiance in doing any sort of automotive painting

Still cheaper than a vinyl wrap based on the notion there's less time required for labour. There are better polymers out there that can give an even better gloss than painted cars.

how much more work is involved for that kind of finish?
It requires a painstaking amount of time to achieve that finish, a lot more than the 3 stages required for the Maserati which is probably the most intensive job I've done so far for a client. Professional equipment is a must as well as experience. It's something that I will be continuing to experiment with before actually offering it.
Saw "V.spec II" on the back as it went past. Not sure if it's legit but it was still pretty cool to see.
i think it was this... it's been on RS here before (was shipped by container). the owner used to have the yellow one that was seen at the thurs meets last year but it's since been sold to someone in alberta:

I'd bet it was, I'm pretty sure the wheels have been changed since though. Looked to have TE37s or something similar when I saw it, you can't see it too well on the camera though.
I really don't like how the 570S looks. The headlights and taillights look like they were drawn on by a kindergartner as an afterthought on an otherwise OK looking car.
Nice flowing organic lines then suddenly scribbled on taillights
Seriously, the more I look at those taillights the more my jimmies are rustled.
Actually it's not just the taillights. I know McLaren was going for the "raw" and "racecar" style but to me it looks so brash and unfinished, especially how the entire rear end is unpainted. From an aesthetics standpoint, definitely not the prettiest car around.

[12-03, 23:03] rb when i see a modded element. I have nothing but respect. either the parents kicked him out or the guy is killing hookers in the back
Thats my friends car. He would be glad his car finally got noticed.
Its the only yellow Boss 302 Laguna Seca Spec in BC that I know of.
Thats x bar instead of the rear seats is awesome.
We took it to the Ridge and its a monster at the track. Very very impressed.

I think you have to look at their target market for this car. It's not going to be found in the garages of middle aged millionaires, but the underground parking lots of high end condos. Driven by the children of new money who are more flash than substance.
Imho, not a good direction for McLaren to go. That particular market is just too fickle, following trends rather than passion.
