MT's are hard to find and are going up in value especially the V8 MT because the new R8 won't have MT nor a V8 so it's a future classic. If you have the money and find a clean, low mileage V8 MT I would honestly buy it and tuck it away.

And I didn't lose money on the car, in fact I'm actually going to make money albeit a very small profit. It's getting hard to find clean R8's with the right specs so the market is starting to creep up for them.

The buyer is ready to buy it, was suppose to sign off today but I'm still in two minds so told him I'll get back to him in a day or two. There's nothing else on the market that fits my budget that can replace the R8 V10, the car I really want which is the 458 is out of my budget at the moment so might just wait to unload my car because getting a buyer for it isn't going to be an issue.

I have driven both and they feel like completely different cars. The 6sp was a joy to drive....feels like a more refined Lambo Gallardo. The auto was just way to jerky to drive regularly.....

There is a strong demand for the 6 speed, yet companies left, right, and center are doing away with manual transmissions.

I guess it's not an issue in the new market, because those who buy new exotics are probably buying them for the status. But once these cars hit the used market and folks like us are buying them, the manual transmission becomes the proverbial unicorn.

What goes around, comes around.
Does anyone remember back in the day when it was impossible to find a clean, 5 speed Accord wagon?

I have found the floppy shifters to be jerky on a daily drive since day one. I hated the F355 shifter, and I hated the F360 the same. The 430 was a little better, and the 458 has seen some nice revisions. But nothing beats the linear action of a leg, as opposed to high pressure switches reacting to pulsating solenoids.

I sold my STi back in May, and really miss not having a manual transmission in the garage.

Very rare do you see MT been offered nowadays but when it is everyone basically wants one. Look at the GT4.

And I've driven the newer R8 with the dual clutch, smooth as a silk. The r-tronic on the other hand is clunky and jerky, e-gear which is terrible as well is still a bit better. I've also read online that dual clutch transmissions will last much longer, some 458 owners on fchat use their cars as DD's and haven't seen any clutch wear issues. Do you have a 458?

Hate the player, not the game.

Speaking of Mercedes, I had a 2015 s63 come in the shop for some winter tires. No pictures since that would be unprofessional without permission. But my god, that interior is absolutely mental. What really took me back was the carbon ceramic brake package. With only 1500km on the odo, it was just stunning from all angles. Very nice owners. Though was absolutely a nightmare to reset the tpms system as it was all in Mandarin and no one in the shop that day was fluent enough

Just learn to lift-shift, like you would in an actual manual transmission car- as with any single clutch transmission, it can be quite smooth with a bit of practice. I find the jerkiness to be part of the fun!

I don't have one, but I became familiar with a friend's 458.
It is a huge departure from the older models. Ferrari has done some amazing things with their engineering department and it shows in their latest models. You could actually daily drive a modern Ferrari, something that couldn't be said prior to the F430 release.

Kind of like the 1993 512 Testarossa that FMOV has for sale now.

17,526 KM

$439,495

1993 Ferrari 512 Testarossa | Only Certified Ferrari & Maserati Dealer in Vancouver

So few miles, under 800 per year. But that's the way of the classic Ferraris.

I've read a lot of guys talking about life-shit with semi-automated gearbox, I should look into it. I believe you own a 458?

I'm surprised how many 458's have clocked 20k+ and they've had very mininal issues. Amazing how far we've come with supercars where you can actually drive them as a DD's and not have to worry about crazy maintenance bills.

If 20k is considered high they're just glorified models or concept cars.

TRs are dope. $440K for a 512 is madness though. I would understand if it was a 512M. Rare cars

I personally feel like they will still continue to drop a bit and won't see it starting to go up in value in maybe 3 years +.

While they're maintaining value, R8's are not overly rare cars, current owners will be trading in their old ones for the new R8 so we will be seeing a few more around. Like the same result of the Gallardo's.

Yep, to keep the values high, the demand is going to have to outweigh supply. Although, enough were probably ordered with the (what I have heard from everyone who has driven one) HORRIBLE e-gear transmission, that the MT's are going to skyrocket at some point. I think the R8 design has aged so well, but I know some people disagree with me on that.
