| 300ZX/Z32 General Questions
hey guys,
Just thinking ahead for the future when I do get a car. I've always loved the styling of the 300ZX, even though it's an older car it still looks amazing IMO. Love the exhaust note as well. Anyways I have a few general questions.
1. How reliable are these?
2. I know theres a TT and a non turbo model, how is the fuel economy for both models
3. What forum would you recommend for more information on these, I googled and found a couple but they were like ghost towns. If you can PM me the site or just name the site don't link so you don't get an infraction.
Thanks, Brendan

They are some what pretty reliable put if its time to get it fixed, it will get pretty expensive. Fuel economy is pretty good for a sport car, you get around 400km for a 60L tank for TT.
Go to zilvia.net, they are mostly 240 guys but they are a Z forum as well.

thanks c-unit. I'll check out zilvia. I don't expect the car to require no work done to it, I mean it will be about a 20 year old car by the time I get it but they're freaking sexy. Thanks for the input bud!

Well to be totally honest with you hahah i have never driven a good 300zx i have only driven my 300zx and it was a peacer when i bought it
i paid 3 grand for it and im 5 grand into
right now with the money i have put into it
its runs pretty good right now
so im pretty sure that if you get a decent one its gonna last you a pretty good time OBV there are gonna be problems later down the road and what i have noticed with the 300zx at lest with mine if one thing goes wrong something els goes wrong its not just one thing lol
but other then that yeah its a pretty good car
mines the american one so im not sure how many KPG or anything it gets in K's
but it seems pretty good
i work on a starbucks budget and can still aford it with gas so it cant be that bad lol
good for a sports car
and i honestly dont know of any other sites where you can find info
but hey google is your friend right you can type it in and find anything and everythig under the sun.

I would never buy one as a daily driver again.
Its a ton of fun to drive BUT parts are expensive and working on it is a pain in the ass.
I ended up losing over $20k on mine.
I drove my $900 Dodge Shadow with 300,000 km harder than I ever drove the 300zx and didnt have an issues with it.

haha yeah hopefully you get a goodone that doesnt need to much work done to it haha
and its such a pain in the ass because./...HAVE YOU SEEN THE SIZE OF THE ENGINE! lol and such the small bay its in and all the electrical stuff its so stupid! haha
just for changing the timing belt at a shop might i add takes 7 hours of labor becuase everything is just a bitch to work on its so nutty
and then specialy if you decided to get a TT the NA is bad enough to work on but try adding TT's to the thing lol

Yeah I heard that to change the turbos you have to pull out the entire engine. Sounds like a pain but these cars look and sound amazing. Plus I don't mind working a bit, but I still need to learn a ton of information on wrenching. Thanks for your information though.

If I do get one I'll end up getting a non-turbo, I don't want to run into unnecessary problems. Plus less gas money

go to twinturbo.net ... the source for Z32 info. the local forum is niclub.ca
i think you would get bored of the non-turbo fairly quickly. it is a heavy car.
the twin turbo is definitely worth every penny. try to find one with a maintenance history, otherwise you may be on the hook replacing this and that, and then it starts to add up.
reliability isn't an issue, however the more abuse the car has taken, likely it will need to have more parts replaced...the same goes for any sports car.

Find a low KM JDM example. By far in much better average condition, and cheaper, than the domestic ones.

Why must you always post the car in question with body kits timpo?
Honestly. that's not what the fucking op asked.

any interest in Z31?
Mine is an N/A that has been pretty reliable, I'm an L too btw. but i didn't use this car to learn stick so don't worry.
basically same transmission as the Z32 and engine can be easily converted to turbo.
Also Z31 turbos are really nice,
Visually not that much to customize but it's better that way |

Anyone know what the fuel tank size in a 88 Z31 should be?
I can always only about 40L of gas in, but I googled it and someone says 72L!?!?!?!?
Whats the tank size in a S13? It can't be smaller than the Z31 I think,
And Whats the tank size in a Z32?
