However, on the other side, the people who don't have texting plans most likely don't feel the need/want to text. So why should they have to pay for incoming texts when they don't even want to pay for outgoing texts? |

EXACTLY!!! |
Ask people on Telus and Bell who don't want to text, but do get the occasional text from a friend or family member. Probably annoying, probably not the end of the world. That being said, it still sucks. Can they do this, even with a contract in place? Certainly; all they have to do is notify you. Ditto for credit card contracts (I read the one for my new Duetto Visa yesterday lol), some stuff can change. The carriers want to force the evolution of the mobile phone user in Canada bwahahahah...in fact, I'm posting from my phone right now. :lol |

but everytime i want to tell him something when its not convenient to talk on the phone i want to text him something i have to be considerate for my friend which is a nuisance now that like most of my friend use rogers regular texting is not an option now |
And the lousy things that even if they turn off their phones, they're still getting a message. :D I wonder if there is an actual, proper way to get around this? Even if financially it's not a big deal, as a principle it just doesn't make sense or look good. :/ |
^^ i think you can call telus or bell to completely halt all text messages coming to you but text messaging these days is common what if its something important |

of course, it doesnt sound very nice to pay for incoming txt, but if Call Display is at 8bux and voicemail is at 7, thats 15... did you know that you cna pay $15 dollars and get both of those plus 1000 txt messages to play with. Thats with the current price increase... if not, most of you are probably paying $9 for Call display, Voicemail and 125 txt.. and if not, its just $6 for call Display and $10 for 2500 SMS yea, money is money, but be real, no one is going to get 1000 annomynous SMS. so you receive 2spam and maybe 5 from friends+family... thats not even a dollar more. So what works better, you can pay more to protect yourself from 1000spam SMS or just sucker up to the change. I am not happy with it, but those people with Bell/Telus went through it and its probably the last thing on peoples mind. |

i understand where ur coming from..its just a little more...but when im already paying 8 freakin bucks for just Caller ID i really do not want to pay more for a service that i hardly ever use...for my case as a blackberry user it does not seem fair to penalize me for something i have no control over.. and yes at the end of the month all my incoming sms's would probably add up to a tim hortons coffee, and i know its not much but its one less coffee i get to drink and that pisses me off!! |

i don't text, but a lot of my friends text me often since they have plans, i don't mind since i don't get charged. so now i'm either going to have to fall into the trap and buy a texting plan, or i get buttfucked with the 15c charges. or the other option is to tell rogers to stop texts from coming into my phone..and i don't have the convenience of what a cellular phone [in todays times] is for. |

aside from what i described above, money goes to the same bank account. Sayin that still makes u a hypocrite. and at the same time, NOTHING is set in stone for fido to not charge this, if fido decides to charge this, then where will you people flock to over maybe 1 buck more a month I DO NOT LIKE THE STUPID AMOUNTS OF MONEY WE CANADIANS throw into cell phones, but accept it, there is absolutely NO COMPETITION what so ever. When fido starts charging, i wanna see you people just not use a cellphone at all |

Fido better not do this.... Or else /wrist. |
^ +1 |
If I were you guys, I would expect Fido to do the same all the other major companies have done it, and they gain money on top of that. What do they have to lose? Not their customers, that's for sure. Who are their customers gonna go to if they start charging? Rogers? Pffft |
