I'm not a fan of Star Trek fan at all but Chris Pine, unf unf.

Synaptik 05-06-2009 11:47 AM

gonna be there friday night lining up.

jlo mein 05-06-2009 04:01 PM

Already got my 7:30PM friday ticket (digital presentation) for Scotiabank Theatre. Should have enough time to go grab a Japadog then line up. :) Going to be wearing my Enterprise "Sweet Ride" t-shirt. I figure my grade 3 TNG uniform with phaser and tricorder is a bit overboard. Perhaps I'll carry my Andorian teddy bear. :p

fsy82 05-07-2009 09:41 AM

Caught the 7:45 show today..... and as a huge Trek fan, it was fucking great! This is one movie I won't be pirating. Too bad it was a thursday with a Canucks game, the theater wasn't even 1/4 full. Pick of seats :D

jlo mein 05-08-2009 02:05 AM

lol as great as Star Trek is you can't miss the Canucks. I'm hoping the theatre is crowded on friday with a good atmosphere, always makes the movie more enjoyable. Commander Shran is hunting those who refuse to watch Star Trek!

The only downside is that you have to be a pretty big Trekkie (i.e. like yours truly) to be able to get and fully appreciate the movie. Some parts of it I didn't like (i.e. the transporter effect, some of the plot), but overall it was EPIC.

wouwou 05-08-2009 05:09 PM

hearing really good reviews on this moive

Gt-R R34 05-08-2009 10:17 PM

must watch it seems

!LittleDragon 05-08-2009 10:36 PM

Saw it again tonight, much bigger crowd... as I was leaving, people in costumes, Bajorans in full makeup, etc..

RayBot 05-08-2009 10:58 PM

Never watched a single Star Trek episode...never watched a single movie...

...But i had a lot of fun watching this one.

!SG 05-09-2009 01:18 AM

was, AWESOME!!!!!

Ch28 05-09-2009 01:51 AM

This movie is one of the must watch summer movies.

I brought my friend (who has never seen any star trek episodes before) and he said it was a great movie.

The first 10-15 minutes was awesome! That's how you start a movie off with a bang

Ronin 05-09-2009 02:17 AM

VERY good. The first 15 minutes was fantastic.

HOWEVER, there's too much fucking cheese in this movie. All those bullshit old references ("I'm a doctor, not a physicist!", etc) were put in there simply to appease the Trekkie nerds. All that stuff seemed so awkward and out of place in a modernized action movie. I could've done without all that garbage.

I also didn't need to be told outright that this is an "alternate reality". I'm not retarded...thanks though, J.J. Abrams.

Grandmaster TSE 05-09-2009 02:17 AM

agree
awesome movie
go check it out

El Bastardo 05-09-2009 04:12 AM

At the end..
Spoiler!

The one thing that bothered me was the fact that:

Spoiler!

jlo mein 05-09-2009 07:19 AM

Is Star Trek playing in IMAX anywhere in Vancouver? It seems like it would be epic, but the only theatres in Canada I have found so far that are showing the IMAX version are in Ontario/Quebec.

Saw the movie tonight at Scotiabank theatre and it was awesome, totally fullfilled all my expectations. Would have liked to see more fans in costume though.

Scotty: I like this ship! It's exciting!

LOL

Agreed. But I'm a Trekkie, so it appeases me. :D

murd0c 05-09-2009 09:16 AM

going to the 1215 show at strawberry hill I can't fricken wait.

!SG 05-09-2009 09:24 AM

some of the acting was spot on! the actors had to fullfill the old generation of trekkies, and still be able to gain new trekkies.

overall, it was a really good movie, EVEN if you arent into star trek, its a great sci fi movie!

wouwou 05-09-2009 05:00 PM

great fucking movie

now studios will give 120 mils to JJ for him to make whatever lol

murd0c 05-09-2009 05:19 PM

I was really impressed. good restart to the original story line. Fricken Scotty is awesome!!
