They weren't so terribly bad, but the original was SO good, that the sequels bring down its greatness somehow. So many things that should have been left unexplained got explained. So many of my ideas on what the Matrix were all about were ruined by shitty writing.
That said, it has been so long since the first one, that it may not be an issue any more.
As far as the "trailer" goes, it sure as hell looks fake to me.

read the youtube comments... the video was added 2 yrs ago and has nothing to do with Matrix..
the scenes in the video are from a japanese movie according to the Youtube comments..

Sooooo fake.
Not saying there isn't potential for new Matrix movies, though. I'd really like some more films set in that universe but more in the way of the Animatrix than the actual Matrix movies.

I heard they were filming the matrix here the same time they made the day the earth stood still. Suppostly EA were helping with the special effects.

I loved the first one and was excited when I heard there were gonna be two more.... then I watched the sequels. I wish I didn't cuz it just created a huge ball of confusion.
