The promo was in a month ago. It was valid for a while now.

The rep said he wouldnt know when these deals expires. Its whenever Shaw makes the call to switch to another promo.

There's always promos of similar calibre.

Also, if you are an existing shaw customer, all u have to do is cancel and sign up with a new name (bro, sis, mom, dad etc.)

I was with Telus and paying 25 for just internet. So might as well get cable/pvr/phone for 5 bux more.

One of the unpopular views regarding retentions is:

If you have an awesome pricing plan/bill etc.

Do not share it!
If too many people are calling retentions, they will just stop giving retentions like the cell phone companies where everybodys moms and grandmas call in all the time trying to haggle with them or take up company resources to get in on deals.

right...and then nobody would really benefit other than the odd person actually being offered a retentions plan. Companies aren't just putting stops to the retention plans because people try to "get in on them"

beleive it or not this is whats happening with cell phone companies...go take a look at previous retention plans from rogers/telus and how they had to keep changing their retentions line because too many people were calling in for deals when retentions is supposed to "retain" customers

I have basic tv plus chinese package, high speed 25, home phone with unlimited ld to asia for 76.10 tax included. This package was over 128/month but I got them to give me the student promo pricing even though the account holder is my dad.

The retention plans nowadays are no where near as what they would be in the past.
u go back 4 years ago and there were crazy retention plans that included data for $30.

now everything has to be $50 +, theres too many people on high-traffic forums like red-flag spreading it around.
as a business, you just change your retention policies.

I switched from Shaw to Telus which had some cool features like caller I.D. on my TV and it was cheaper but evenutally went back to Shaw just because it is that much better. Just keep asking for better prices.

^regret will come trying to renegotiate your promo rate if you signed on with one

Currently considering going back to Shaw for a year with their promo pricing. Telus service has been reliable, but I don't like their insistence that they want me to pay the regular posted rates after being on a promo rate the last 2 years (their retentions' exact words)
