the collectors thing is just a sales pitch. All you need to have a collector's car is either:
a. 15 yeras old stock
b. discontinued brand that hasn't produced a car in the last 5 years (get your pontiacs now and cash in in 5 years lol)

plus all u get is cheap insurance...i say "all u get" because u have to have another car that's normally insured to qualify and u can't drive your collecter car to work lol...

so basically, u get an old stock car that u can't drive to work and can't really modify? lol

dark0821 06-02-2009 10:05 AM

haha... 267 000KMs...

drunkrussian 06-02-2009 10:06 AM

It's:

1. At least 25 years old, or
2. A limited production model (1500 or fewer manufactured that model year) or,
3. At least 15 years old, with no vehicles of any kind built by its manufacturer for at least five years.

The car must also be in good condition (a condition that ICBC considers to be of collectible value).

The one catch with collector plates is that you can NEVER drive your car to work.

kumbo1 06-02-2009 11:06 AM

I emailed him on it, and he indeed said 15 grand. LOL

shenmecar 06-02-2009 11:37 AM

so would a carrera gt be able to get a collectors plate based off of rule #2? Less then 1500 made TOTAL. How about an enzo? Veyron? isn't collector insurance dirt cheap? i thought the car had to be over a certain age to get collectors plates...
