you do not have to renew your voice agreement, all you have to do is sign a new agreement just on the data portion of your plan. i just called in today and did so, here's the details... current voice plan under agreement from nov 2008 - nov 2011 current data plan without agreement new data plan added ($30, 6gb) under agreement from jun 2009 - jun 2012 voice plan agreement remains unchanged also i asked about my options on getting a new iphone 3g s, i currently have 3 lines with fido, 2 with data and 1 without. one the 1 without the contract is open for renewal but i was told that data is mandatory to get an iphone 3g s at the subsidized price under a new agreement. if you dont want data then you have to pay full price for the handset (thumbs down) but you dont have to sign a new agreement (thumbs up). dude wouldnt release the pricing, he said to call back on june 19 for that info. |
Yuppp for the new iphone its actually available without a term but obviously will be full price which is probably around 7bills but old one was only available with agreement |
date plan for iphone is rip off |
6gb of data for $30 is acutally a good, it is virtually unlimited data, the only way i see someone chewing through that is with tethering. 512mb of data is sufficient for most iphone users, myself i only go through 100-400mb per month. i rip off is that there is no affordable 512mb or 1gb data plan. you can get 6gb for $30 so you should be able to get 1gb for $10. if these fuckers thought like that they almost every one of their clients would have 1gb data plans at $10 a pop. instead they ransom you with the iphone 3g S and make it mandatory to get a data plan. who in their right mind is going to pay $25 for 500mb when you can get 6gb for $30? there is no affordable data plan, i have the 6gb and it is great but i am not tethering right now and its a fucking waste. shit i could live with even 512mb if it was cheaper. |
Nope, it took effective as of the 9th of june. but does expire july 1st Quote:

im with rogers, and no, they didnt say anything about a 3 year term. all i said was that i heard the 6gb plan is back and that i wanted to switch from my 1gb to the 6gb and the girl said yes. |
the 6gb data plan from fido/rogers is a promo and a 3 year commitment to the service is mandatory. if you choose to cancel the service before then there is a $100 ECF. |

Spoke with rogers, my blackberry was eligible for the 6gb plan, so I jumped all over it like a fat kid on doughnuts. |
Im currently using a non-NAM N96 with HSDPA 900 / 2100, Will I still be able to add the plan? Or will they tell me that im not using a 3G compatible phone and not let me get this plan? |
they offered it to me when i called rogers. I have a non nam n82. I have it now but i also had rogers send me a iphone 3gs. Why dont you just call them, whats the worst thats going to happen? They say no? |
They don't care what phone you have. |
i'm getting it, i don't like be limited! lol |
Tethering isn't allowed any more and that blows chunks. I am not happy. |

It is not. I have the 6GB plan and it's no longer allowed. That's what I've been shown from Rogers. Only allowed for iPhones. Unless you know something that I don't... |
I gave in and got the plan. Lol. They gave it to me for 25/month for 6gb on a 3 year agreement. |
