I've had a chance to drive the 2nd to last gen Fiesta and it really was pretty fun to drive. I'm not sure how the latest model runs but if its anything like the generation before than I approve of this purchase.

^I like the Fiesta as well.. Are we getting the european built hatches? Or are they retooling the NA plants to produce it..

i would buy a focus st over a gti. I almost bought a c30 because of several reviewers favourable impressions on that engine.

The Fiesta is actually coming for sure and soon. Mazda 2 isn't really an option since you can't buy one.

Indeed. I dont have any love towards Ford in terms of brand (because i love japanese and european brands like most ppl), but you can never discount all the cars made by them. IMO, Ford GT is super sexy (the Shelby version even more so). If i had a need for a small light truck, I'd pick the Ranger over the the B series (as well as Escape over tribute) solely based on the fact that its cheaper and It has a better looking front end.
