As for you previous insurance, if you do not have the old papers, then you need to contact ICBC to get them to reprint them for you. However they will charge you a small fee | touch start is nice but sucks when the battery dies like it did in my corolla. totally sucked. Quote:

The scrap it is on top of your trade in, so you get the value from the dealer ($1000?!?!?!) lol caravans aren't worth shit used.
But IMO get the rav 4 4 cyl, because the engine has enough power and isn't noisy, not saying the V6 isn't great but the 4 is fast enough and gets better mileage,
Also Rav4 has better 4wd for the snow and I think the diff can lock, but everyone knows the Rav4 has better 4wd, even the honda salesman will tell you that.
The Rav4 is getting old though, so maybe look at the Venza, which is basically the new Rav4, it's not as cool or agressive but It's got a lot of practicality going for it, and it's new, basically a rebadged RX350,
CRV is just POS IMO, the interior feels sloppy, looks C-Lai, and awd sucks, | the gas difference isn't a lot but enough to get $1250 and trade in value for the car is 1k. as for venza is too big for the liking plus uses more gas Quote:

cause right now you're comparing a newer model to a model that has been around for a while. kinda unfair IMO | i can't really wait because the transmission is about to die and want to get that $1250 instead of nothing Quote:

My parents have shopped around for mini-SUVs for the past few years, so I'll throw in a few extra pointers about those two cars. Something your dad may look out for is the way the door opens on the Rav-4. It opens like a door, unlike the gated hatch like the CR-V and your Caravan currently have. That's an issue for my mom as she prefers the mini-van style hatch door for clearance issues and fitting more groceries in, haha. If you are looking to buy the top of the line for the CR-V, there is no v6 option. Personally, that kind of bugs me since you are paying around 40g for the vehicle, and the engine choice is exactly identical to the cheapest trim. | how the rav4 opens will be hard to adapt to it cuz of how the door swings out Quote:

The 4 cylinder Forester isn't too bad on gas, but the turbo is fun and you can chip it to near 300HP
Forester is a little bit smaller I think, but it's newer than the other 2, and as stated above handles better,

but i've always wanted my family to get an suv, and when we do I'll make sure we get the v6 Rav4 awd since it feels like it has slightly better material. Besides, the Rav4 looks better than the Cr-v at the moment, and like you said the Crv is going to have a facelift soon.
+1 for a v6 Rav4 awd

what about getting the awd option?
though fuel consumption will go up a bit, but it's better for the snow

subaru forester ftw. there has been a few magazine comparisons since it's release and it's beaten the rav4 and crv in all of them overall (ie. did not win a few categories).
but the v6 rav4... a lot faster than i thought it would be when i drove it but i don't care much for the rear door swinging out the wrong side and the spare hanging out the back. anyone who has to back into a garage or load up while parked on the street knows what i'm talking about.

The only thing about the rav-4 that bothers me, is that it seems when it switched from 2wd --> 4wd its a bit touchy about that... and can sometimes not engage the way you'd like it.
(as per the way I drove it)

I chose the CRV because I didn't like the cheap/bland looking interior of the RAV4, my right leg kept hitting the center console and the swing door design of the rear hatch made it impractical to open when parked in my garage.

Having the spare tire hanging outside does improve the trunk space a lot i think, not sure about current gen, but i remember looking at the last gen RAV4 and the trunk was so tall!, Also Rav4 has an optional but useless 3rd row!
I +1 on the rav4 4cyl sport looks good with those rims and got great gas mileage and still plenty of power, must be 4wd IMO, didn't even know it wasn't standard.

Toyota's interior is sort of plastic-ish kinda like GM, Ford and Chrysler.

i dunno man. My mom picked up her new CR-V today, and I was like . . . . . ."meh".
For about $28k, there were way more options imo.
Rav4 , Forester, Outlander, CX7, Tiguan, and then there's the domestics.
Oh wellz, at least its an upgrade from the 93' RWD mazda MPV

I'm not a Honda fan... but I think the CR-V is a better buy... literally never depreciates... I see ones that are 2 or 3 years old selling for the same price as new ones, it's ridiculous.
Also, compare apples to apples... 4 cylinder models... forget the V6, it's a 4.0L and sucks gas like it's going out of style so unless your Dad likes dumping $50-60 of fuel every 400km or so that shouldn't be considered. Yah it's fast, but the throttle is super touchy and the transmission can't seem to decide whether you want to accelerate hard or hardest (there's no gradual option apparently and I've driven 2 different V6 ones).
The 4 cylinder is more than adequate on the RAV-4 for your Dad. People on here are thinking with racing heads instead of practical ones Anyway I think the CR-V is better based on driving both and that's coming from someone who owns Toyota's.

I would choose the CRV if it were between the 2. However, as previously mentioned, the Subaru forester is a good choice as well and I would choose that over the CRV. Just my 2cents. |

Try a base Rav4 4cyl. You might find the Rav4 Sport a bit too bumpy.
