| nissan murano
hi
we're in the market for a used mid size suv specifically looking at the 2004-2006 Nissan murano. Are there any known problems with this car? what year should i avoid if any? is the SL model enough for daily driving or should we go with the SE AWD.
any help would be appreciated.thanks

SL should be good enough for DD, parents have an 2004.. i would go 05+ since they improved on a few things for example the power steering sucked on the 04

Early models have problems with the CVT transmission..... part alone is over $6k.

If you pay a little more i suggest an older model MDX or even a RDX. I test drove the Murano and the interior to exterior and also driving was no where compared to the RDX. RDX was also great in the snow, we never got stuck in the snow. I had my heart on the Murano, but after driving it, I wasn't really impressed.

^ Ditto. Make sure you drive it first. On paper it's a great vehicle, but the CVT absolutely killed it for me.

not that great, not even the new ones, not to mention they are uglier than the GTR

If you look hard enough you will find a good deal. Look for an American Import. My rdx is from the states and it's perfectly fine. GPS and Nav system works 100% in Canada. You can also just Download and burn the new version of the Acura DVD CD and put it in yourself. We were able to get ours for 30k flate. HOWEVER, one thing about buying an american ACURA is that the dealerships here don't accept warranty here. I know to a lot of people this is not good at all. The car is 2007 and we had it for about a year and nothing has gone wrong with the car. If you are going to get an American imported Murano, make sure Canadian dealerships valid the warranty.

The RDX's handling can't be matched by the Murano, let alone the interior is much nicer. If that's the case, I would buy a Murano if I'm the OP.

fx35 ftw.
Had a tastefully modded(with a serious drop) 98 v6 accod coupe for 7 years...
This past dec I decided to let her go and got me a fx....
The thing is better than I couldve imagined, both comfort/handling and powerwise...
There's some good deals on em around ur not tooo concerned about gas.
Handles like a sports sedan and goes like stink. Stock 20's=sick.
Anyone that says the murano and fx are almost the same car, knows nothing bout them.
Like a g35 with a backpack. Worth a serious look imo.
Cheers

Get one of the new RXs, great on gas, subtle, C-Lai mobile, but practical at least, and it beat the GLK, X3, and Q5 in a recent comparison!
RX has an amazing reputation in quality and satisfaction so it's a safe bet.

Depends what you want... if you need more interior space then it might not be right for your family. FX can be more expensive than the RDX and most definitely the MURANO. Ask your family and see what it needs. MID size SUV is too general cause it can vary from sporty to practical.

It is true that the FX has small interior space...Even my car feels like it has more interior space than an FX!

I know the RDX trunk compartment is bigger than the FX. I can't even put two big size luggages side by side. The FX is going to be worse. If you want camping, Murano will be better.

get a used FX actually, but I do see a lot with burnt out front headlamps, dunno if thats a common issue. But I like the style and exhaust. Plus they look great with aftermarket wheels.
