Pre-paid USD credit card or sth simillar for last min?

Well, it turns out that I have to go to the States for a week for some family issue early next week.

The thing is, I need to go to Minneapolis and the best deal on flight+hotel in CDN vs. USD available has quite a big dif in $$$. (671USD on Priceline vs. 980CDN on expedia, same hotel, different flight though) and I have about 2k in USD sitting in the bank.

Is there anywhere that I can get those prepaid credit card in USD so I can buy this online without my CDN Visa ripping me off with their conversion rate??

Or any other suggestion is welcome, but plz consider I need something that can be taken within a few days (2~3days)

If you don't mind the drive down to the US, you can probably drop into any bank and buy a Visa or Amex gift card. US Bank is right in Blaine, and you can buy Visa gift cards from them in denominations up to $500.

EDIT: Amex offers up to $3000 for gift cards. I'm not sure if they charge extra as commission for these gift cards so you'd best check with the bank first. However, they can all be used just like a regular Amex or Visa card.

You can also open an acct at Bank of America with your ID, passport, and some utility bills. It'll work as a US debit card/credit card and the only conversion you'll pay is the cash conversion for when you convert CAD to USD with your bank

I don't think you can use gift cards online. I have a mastercard one here and it says I can't. don't know about the others.

Visa Gift card online purchase policy

Short answer: Yes, you can use Visa gift cards online but you will have to register them first before purchasing online.
