Sad: Original owner selling '66 Chrysler 300 because kids don't want it

A shame... Original owner purchased in 1966. Garage kept since, but has to sell because he's 70 years old and his kids don't want it.

Apparently there were bigger pictures in a previous posting, but friend says the body is in great shape, no rust, straight frame.

Imagine having to sell a car you've owned and taken such great care of for 43 years.

ilvtofu 06-12-2009 03:24 PM

Hmm, I don't mind it :)

ilvtofu 06-12-2009 03:25 PM

maybe it's better he sell it than watch one of his stupid kids wrap it around a tree, that would be epitome of sad

skyxx 06-12-2009 04:20 PM

I hope it lands in good hands.

asian_speedster 06-12-2009 04:49 PM

5k for a nice car! would do it if I had the cash.

Razr 06-12-2009 04:58 PM

what can I say...kids these days...

if they were smart they would just put it in storage and let it appreciate in value as a collectors item!

ilvtofu 06-12-2009 05:21 PM

they're not even kids, the guy is 70 his kids have to be at least 30?

Volvo-brickster 06-12-2009 05:51 PM

i know 80 year olds that know how to use the internet and play wow

El Bastardo 06-12-2009 07:30 PM

Yeah, the elderly aren't as technologically inept as they're made out to be.

Too bad his kids don't want the car but to be honest I'd rather let my dad sell a car he doesn't need and enjoy himself with the cash than take the car and not want or use it.

He can have a pretty decent vacation for $5000

Definitely!

My 87 year old great Aunt just added me on Facebook. She uses Ebay.

This car will probably blow the doors off most cars off the line. Wow, classic Magnum..

Hopefully the car will end up with a collector and not in the scrap yard or blown up in a movie.

Not really, the 383 was the base model motor, and the car weighed over 4000lbs. If it had the 440, it'd be a different story.

Wykydtron 06-13-2009 07:56 AM

Dad just talked to dude on the phone. Needs a new roof. He's really thinking of it......

sonick 06-13-2009 10:30 AM

Sweet, post pics if he does get it! The interior is supposed to be kind of rough, but nothing out of the ordinary for a 40+ year old car.

Not a big deal with a convertible anyways. I mean sure, tons of power is great but this particular car should probably be kept bone stock and weekend driven.
