It started shipping http://www.gsmarena.com/business_fla...-news-1258.php
Anyone still interested in getting it?

Question for you phone junkies:

If you have the option to pick between an E71 and the E72, which would you get and why? Also, we have to consider the cost-per-dollar value of the phone. I understand the E71 has been out for a while but with the E72 now selling, which one is worth it?

+Kardboard+ 11-17-2009 06:12 PM

E72. At least as good as the E71 but with some handy improvements. Mind you, this is from what I value (camera, 3.5mm jack) and mostly from the specs. Need a real hands-on before I can say for sure.

I say Nokia should send me a loaner and I'll review it for them. :D

hope dust doesn't get under the screen as easy as the e71 did, that was the main reason i got rid of mine

moky 11-17-2009 10:00 PM

looks like it's already out locally?

http://cellworldco.com/store/product...roducts_id=603

bcedhk 11-18-2009 08:07 AM

so in terms of other functions , (not camera and 3.5jack) the E71 is the same as the E72?

If so, i might as well buy a E71, and get a full out black shell for it to save me at least 100 bucks?

Will i notice a big difference between the 256k e71 screen adn the new amoled 16m screen?

+ newb here with the 3g/hspa things... im using fido, basic plan, how much will it cost to get the 3g/hspa plans?

Depends on how much data you want.

JKam 11-18-2009 11:20 AM

fuck how did I miss this whole thread. E72 is SICK! going to upgrade from my e71 for sure! and at only (reported) $500 CDN that's a STEAL.

I wouldn't call that "the nam edition"

UMTS 900/1900/2100.

JKam 11-18-2009 10:22 PM

damn I didn't even know it was out already.. wtf so out of the loop now. Just have to find a NAM one to pounce on..

bakasam 11-21-2009 11:26 PM

Sorry but i'm kinda new with all the 3g stuff and whatnot x_x

What is the disadvantage of buying the non-NAM version of E72?

Will I not be able to make use of Canadas 3G network (if i chose to) since it has HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100 ? and I think Canada needs 850?

If you get the euro/asian version you won't be able to use the 3G bandwith.
Meaning you won't be able to do video calling and internet will be slower since it will be using internet through EDGE

Looks like you can order from the nokia US store now doubt the canada one will get it anytime soon >___>!

are you sure?

cuz this is what i get from the asian website

GSM 850/900/1800/1900
WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz

so can the e72 asian version take full advantage of the 3g network here?

Can someone confirm?

hongy 11-23-2009 11:36 PM

At gsmarena, it states that there are two versions, one eurasian, and the other is nam.

Quote:

General 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - American version
Also Cellworldco lists theirs as:
Quote:

GENERAL INFORMATION

2GNetwork: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900

3GNetwork: HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100
So atm, there is no nam version.

oh damn, I was going to get one...

guess i have to wait for the nam version? which will be a rip off i assume.

I can get this phone from asia for as low as 450 canadian dollars....

sorry to ask silly question again,

so in Canada or America , we use 850 instead of 900 in Asia. But the 1900, 2100 is still the same, does that mean I can still get the 3g speed then?

J____ 11-27-2009 07:12 PM

FYI E72 $499 until dec 1 at ncix!
