1994–2001 Integra Known Issues??

hi everyone,

wondering if there are any issues with this generation of these cars, such as known transmission failures or anything like that.

I was gonna get a tiptronic prelude but heard the tiptronic is terrible and fails, and am wondering if this is the case with automatic integras? I heard honda transmissions can be unreliable.

So any known issues about transmission OR ANYTHING ELSE about integras would be helpful. Recalls, common knowledge, or personal experiences with repair/maintenance, anything would be helpful!

thanks for reading

96 integra

leaking trunk/tail light issues was most common
sunroof/moon roof leak

otherwise a very solid car

water gets in the trunk from the tailight gaskets/sunroof drain pipes sometimes, they're relatively easy fixes
other than that and the common slight burning of oil which is common with almost every Integra, nothing else, very good car

Ive had 2 gen 3 integras now, and around 180000kms, both the rads went. Like everyone else has mentioned though, a solidly built car. If you are buying used, check the ball joints, bushings. Parts are cheap and easy to find.

I always wondered why the integra was badged as an Acura and the Lude as a Honda. The Lude is more plush

In the 2 years I've had my 01 all I've had to replace is the alternator. But like others have said the trunks tend to leak a bit. You should check out www.team-integra.net LOTS of info there.

I owned a '97 for three years and 60,000km ... never had a single problem.

I did the basic maintenance (battery, timing belt, fluids, brakes) but aside from that the car was 100% reliable and problem-free.

Highly recommended. Opt for a 98+ model if possible - they look better.

94-97 and 98-01 have completely different front ends

98-01 has a more aggressive front end, also has the all red tail lights and a small rear bumper difference.

You can always swap the front ends as well if you get a good deal on a 97.
