I played with the N97 and was thoroughly confused. Epic alright, but somehow it didn't feel as solid or workhorse-y as my E71 (which is now bronze LOLLL). Yeah. I like my E71. :) |
guess ill get a e71 for now hows the e75? |

as for e71 being a workhorse, hell yea, its faster interms of being able to type and all, but its fine, once u get use to S60V5, its almost identical! |
fido told me that i can't use the iphone 6gig plan for any other phone and i will be charged, but i guess its not true |
That newegg deal is being talked about alot lately. 699+ tax isn't bad since im getting a receipt and all.But I've been noticing some sellers on craigslist are listing theres at 725-770ish which isnt bad at all. Im assuming since they're the NAM versions, warranties will be smooth sailing as long as a I have a bill of sale? Hmm decisions indeed. |

So the ones that the local retailers sell aren't covered by the 1 yr manufacturer's warranty? If thats the case, then the newegg deal is pretty good then since these are probably the first few batches and could have issues. |
a receipt required for manufacturer's warranty right? a sales person from a local phone store told me its not required for warranty... |
ok interested in buying from amazon.com would it work if i put a point roberts recieiving address? |
US Costco is selling this for $599 USD, works out to be just under $700 CAD. can't beat Costco's 90 day return policy and 1 yr extended manufacturer's warranty, for a total of 2 years. Think that's where I'm going to get mine, nearly pulled the trigger at cellworldco yesterday, glad I didn't :) So at the border, I would have to pay 5% GST and 7% PST right? |
Im really intrested in buying the N97 from newegg but I also dont know alot of things about cellphones before i make the plunge can someone tell me that everything would work once i bring it over to canada? including 3G internet and wifi? Thank you in advance! |
^yup everything will work as long as you get the nam version (north american version for 3g) because the 3g bands in north america are different to most of the world |
I see.. Thanks! |

My question to you is, what stopped you or changed your mind from buying at cellworldco, before you found out about US Costco? and what price were you quoted at cellworldco for this phone? or anywhere else you searched? Quote:
My apologies if it is a stupid question. |
Regardless of which version of a phone, it will work on any carrier with any SIM card in the world as long as the phone itself is unlocked and has a quad-band GSM radio. This is for voice calls. Data is the biggest difference between 3G and non-3G phones. Quad-band 2G phones can use data anywhere in the world under the same conditions as for voice above, but data will be significantly slower compared to a 3G phone that packs the proper frequencies for the region. I should sticky this. :p |
^ Thanks, crystal clear now. |

Can't beat Costco's return policy and additional manufacturer's warranty. You have 90 days to return it if you don't like it or if there's anything wrong with it. I've looked up several of the small local gsm phone retailers as well as some individual sellers on CL that are selling it for ~700-750 locally but obviously that has no returns or guarantees against defective units. Cellworldco's policy is pretty good too, 7 days over the counter exchange for defective units, after that, within 30 days they'll help you repair it. They quoted me for $759. There's nothing wrong with Cellworldco that prevented me from buying from them really, it's just that I really like Costco's policy especially for devices like the N97 that could potentially brick, get dead pixels, fuzzy speakerphone, etc. BUT, if you buy it from Cellworldco, Chinese style ;) there's no proof of purchase so I don't know if Nokia would honour the 1yr manufacturer's warranty. It was really a toss up between newegg.ca or cellworldco before I found out about US Costco. newegg.ca, you pay ~$23 more but you get a proof of purchase but exchanges for defective or problematic units would probably be a hassle since they ship it out from California and you have to send it back there. I'll probably go with cellworldco if I can't get it from Costco |
Hmm.. Alright cool, thanks. I will also most likely do the same lol Thanks! |
clowe just wondering if that price is taxes in? do i need a membership from the us costco to buy from them? |
No its not tax in, you'll have to pay the state tax I believe. Yeah, you need membership or you have to pay a $30 surcharge. I believe if you have the 'executive' membership its valid for the US ones as well. They're not available (afaik) in the warehouse stores btw so you'll have to get it shipped to Point Roberts (if that works) or an Ameri-friend :p I can't say if it will be cheaper this way cause you have to pay the state tax and then the Canadian taxes. One of the Fido stores in Lansdowne Mall is selling it for $737 (NAM), $695 (EURO) so it might actually be cheaper locally. |
hey rcubed, is ur facebook working at all??? |
Yup no problem at all. |
what are some apps that you should have for the n97? is there any apps that make it so that you will have a better notification light for missed calls, sms etc.? too used to the flashing red light on the bb bold :haha: |
so i updated my n97 and its A LOT better then before... damn firmware |
