What to do in Parksville?

Taking girlfriend to the Tigh-Na-Mara resort on the weekend. Never been to Parksville before. What else is there to do out there? Friend suggested mini-golf...anything else? Good places to eat?

Thanks!

The Tigh-Na-Mara is a nice resort. The beach is cool. For eating, if you want to drive down to downtown Nanaimo, I recommend the Acme Food Co. Excellent service and food. Their sushi features fresh fish (not the farmed type.) There are other restaurants in downtown Nanaimo which are as good as the Acme Food Co. but I'm unsure of anything of such calibre in Parksville.

Yes, they have live jazz on select evenings so double check before you go. Get there early or be prepared for a 20 minute wait. They prep all their food fresh so it may take a while for your food to come. It's not a good nor a bad thing but the food is excellent.

There is also a diner just around the corner. If you look across the street (going up the hill) you'll see a diner across the street from the fish and chips joint. I don't recall the name but it has been recommended a few times by the locals when I was out there. Oh, and Celica Girl is just around the corner from the Acme at the tattoo parlour (Black and Blue Tattoo.) Go say hi to her if she's there and ask the guys there for recommendations for food. They're all very nice. :)

At the Tigh-Na-Mara, they have a private stairwell/entry to the beach so beach access is right in front of you.

Edit: Looks like the menu at the Acme has changed significantly. They used to have pastas and pizzas, which were super awesome by the way, as well as steaks and what have you. Unless the menu is different online from what they offer, they should have more selection in-house. The chef is still the same so I hope the quality of food is consistent. Good luck and report back to us how things go! :)
