But ya, long season ahead of us. Calgary is a Brent Suter coached team, they are going to be good. My cousin has the Canucks finishing high in the west, but the Flames finishing higher. THey are scary on defence. With that being said, I'm happy with the Canucks, they will be fine, it's a long season.
That 3rd period was ownage, at one point shots were 11-1. So we'll be alright.
Just had to add that CBC is a complete joke!
The eastern game got Jim Hughson, and we get stuck with Mark no expression Lee and Kevin (I'll recite what happended in the reply and that's my colour analysis) Weekes..BS | I think at one point shots were even 18-1 but could be wrong.

I got owned in my pool as well.
Picked Markov as my first D because of all the PP point he racks up. Oh well...dumped him and picked up Ryan Suter instead.

Anyways, I'm still banking on good regular season success. Other than minor changes to our bottom lines, we're still pretty much the same team who edged out the Flames to win NW. However, it just can't be dismissed though that the Flames just got that much better this season with the tweakings they did on their top lines. | The flames do have a scary blue line, give them time, and their blueline will develop enough chemistry to become a beast. The team i think will break out are the Aves, theres enought talent on that team to allow them for a fight for a playoff spot.
Tomolo will not be easy

varlamov will start tmr
Coach Bruce Boudreau confirmed that Jose Theodore will start Thursday's opener against Boston, the Washington Post reports. Varlamov will start Saturday against the Maple Leafs.
Spin:
Boudreau mentioned Theodore's 2-0-1 record against the Bruins as part of the rationale for the decision. The Capitals are expected to employ a time-share between the two during the first part of the season.

We got caught a little flat-footed out of the gate, but after the second half of the game, it's safe to say that the team will be fine this year.
Mark Lee and Kevin Weekes are not Tom and Shorty because they're not homers. Mark Lee's expertise is football which explains why he's always somewhat behind the play, but CBC hasn't been able to find someone decent for the second game since Cuthbert left. Kevin Weekes is new to the game, but at least his voice is tolerable unlike Crow's. And I don't understand all the hate for Kelly Hrudey. He stumbles a little at times, but he's actually pretty insightful compared to Don Cherry.

I've always liked his 2 cents when breaking down a play.

Ya I liked Marc Crawford and Kelly Hrudey is great too during the 1st intermission.
Kevin Weekes, maybe he will take time, but he bascailly just narrates the replays. What we already see. I want to hear a perspective, an analysis. Maybe this will come with time. Him and Marc Lee have no chemistry.
Pierre McGuire FTW

I actually like Hrudey and Crow because they can break down plays from a player's perspective since they both use to play. Don't know why people complain about them

Anyone else think the Blues will have a solid year. I know they just beat the Wings, but look at their roster. They have a pretty solid 4 lines and with good goaltending, they are going to be tough team to play:
C Jay McClement
L Brad Winchester
D Carlo Colaiacovo
C Alexander Steen
R Brandon Crombeen
R David Backes
D Roman Polak
C T.J. Oshie
D Erik Johnson
C Patrik Berglund
L David Perron
D Darryl Sydor
C Keith Tkachuk
L Paul Kariya
D Barret Jackman
C Andy McDonald
D Mike Weaver
R Brad Boyes

They probably will, I believe they were one of the best teams down the stretch last season and really had me worried when we were matched up against them in the playoffs.
The amount of young talent that the Blues have is ridiculous...they still have Alex Pietrangelo in the system, who's expected to be a top-end puck moving defenseman. STL is going to have 2 great young studs on the blueline real soon |
