???? | Still growing? You don't really reach your height (on average) till you're 21.

Ron Delorme is one of the longest-serving members of the Vancouver Canucks. With over 20 years scouting experience and 210 games played at right wing, Delorme has been a member of the Canucks in some capacity since 1981. Delorme coordinates Vancouver’s amateur scouting staff and assembles the Canucks draft selection list. He was named Chief Amateur Scout in August 2000.
Delorme was originally drafted by Denver in the 1975 WHA Entry Draft. His rights were then transferred to the Colorado Rockies in July 1976, after the franchise relocated to the NHL. He played in 314 games for the Rockies from 1976-77 to 1980-81 before he was claimed by Vancouver in the NHL waiver draft in October 1981. Delorme played a large role in the Canucks run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1982 and is probably best remembered by Vancouver fans for his inspirational fight versus Chicago’s Grant Mulvey in the Campbell Conference Final.
Delorme played four seasons for the Canucks from 1981-82 to 1984-85, recording 17 goals, 20 assists (37 points) and 383 penalty minutes in 210 games before a knee injury forced his retirement in 1985. In 524 career NHL games, Delorme recorded 83 goals, 83 assists (166 points) and 667 penalty minutes.

They should just follow Bob Mckenzie's order each year and they will be fine.
If they did that, they would've picked Kopitar over Bourdon. Kopitar was projected top 5. Bourdon was 15-20, 1st round.
In the other year Grabner was ranked as a 20-30 1st round pick. White was definately a 2nd rounder and he was picked 25th i believe before Perron who Mckenzie ranked as the one that Canucks shouldve picked based on who was left.

Canucks get value with their first round pick, some think they also got a star
By Botchford 06-26-2009 COMMENTS(1) The White Towel
Filed under: jordan schroeder
It will take some time before we know if the Canucks got the next Patrick Kane or Martin St. Louis in Friday's NHL draft.
What we do know right now, is they got value.
Jordan Schroeder spiraled down the draft board to land in GM Mike Gillis's lap at No. 22. Schroeder came into the draft ranked fifth among North American skaters.
But teams clearly balked at his small (5-foot-8), and stocky (175-pounds) stature. Some scouts questioned his compete level, and labelled him a one-dimensional offensive player.
Instead of taking the speedy University of Minnesota forward, several teams chose to go off the board.
Not Gillis, who has made it clear he doesn't obsess about size. He's looking for smart 18-year-olds who can play. And Schroeder fits that bill.
So what did he get? Some think Gillis got a player with star potential.
E.J. McGuire, the NHL's top amateur scout, told reporters: Schroeder is "destined for stardom in the NHL."
As a freshman this year, playing against plenty of college kids five, six years older, Schroeder proved he can pick up the game quickly, totalling 45 points in 35 games.
Patrick White, who was the Canucks 2007 first rounder, played on the same team and had 16 points.
In years past, the Canucks reached for players like White and Michael Grabner in the first round. This time they got value at No. 22. Most people had Schroeder going in the top 15 picks. Some had him going in the top 10.
Coming into the draft, Schroeder said he's expecting to go back to university for another year.
But McGuire, the NHL's top amateur scout, told reporters before the draft that Schroeder might be able to make the leap.
"Another year (of college) wouldn't hurt him," McGuire said, "but right now he's as capable of contributing as was a (Sam) Gagner last year, a Patrick Kane -- those types of guys. He's right in that ballpark."
That seems unlikely because the Canucks have put significant money and time into player development. They would probably like to work with him for a year or two to prepare him for the transition to the NHL.

yeah philly overpaid but whatever hes out of our conference now, let him piss off other people. fucking patrick white, that shit gets me upset still. FUCK.
from what i recall, luc bourdon was a safe pick and thats what the canucks went with. they also were looking into the future because with defencemen like ohlund and salo aging. bourdon would have been the replacement needed. RIP |

I just realized at 230am in the morning Lupul was traded twice for Pronger, and now he's gone full circle, back to Anaheim.

He was ranked #46 by bob mckenzie
Canucks had a 2nd round pick that year at 33 too. If Nonis wanted him that badly, he could've had him at 33 I'm sure. Perron was projected to go at #17 that year.

Flames would probably need to shed some salary to be able to sign JayBo.
