Luongo is a GREAT goalie but the odd time he slips, he is pretty bad. He hasn't proven, at least to me, why he deserves so much hype (for example the Lu is god type of hype). As a "bandwagoner" I don't see it. | it was a pretty easy game for him tonite. wasnt like he stole the game or made any highlight reel saves. Plain and simple, Edmonton just sucked.

Good game. Boring at times, but we played well defensively.
Nice to be above .500 and witness Lu taking over the SO record!
GO NUCKS!

Man Kopitar is on fire right now. Wish we drafted him...
Good thing Gillis was able to salvage a sweet deal out of that Patrick White mess. God, what a fucking atrocious pick that was.

I was at the game and i didnt see any of that and If he cant win us a game like this, then he is garbage.
Edmonton didnt even show up to play. Raycroft could have picked up the win for us easy.

Edmonton didnt even show up to play. Raycroft could have picked up the win for us easy. | This is why...I just got so annoyed about reading bad stuff about the team WIN or LOSE.....So what if he sucked the first 3 games?? so did Brodeur....he lost 2 straight...did he get benched? lolz..
I will stop with the sarcasm now about this... but ya.. I still think Raycroft should be our #1 goalie... bench luongo for having an easy outing out there facing only 27 shots

Really, how many players faces do we actually see on a regular basis, outside of our own team? 90% of them, all we ever see is a helmet, maybe a cage or a distorted face through a visor... and maybe once every couple of weeks.

Luongo has absolutely nothing. Luongo is a good goalie, yes. But he isn't great. And at the rate he's going, he'll be the best goalie to never win anything. He's the best goaltender the Canucks have ever had, but you can't compare him Roy or Brodeur. Hell, I know I'll get flamed and failed for this but you can't even compare him to my boy Giguere. Did Luongo ever take the team on his back to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals? Did he ever win the Conn Smythe? A Stanley Cup?
Don't get me wrong, I like Roberto...I just don't like how overhyped and overrated he is in this city.

It's an opinion. It's not like I need a license to give my opinion. For a new fan like myself i'd rather have someone explain to me why Luongo is deserving the godlike hype instead of getting bashed for giving an opinion. From what I can see Kipper is near the same level as Luongo but not one give him godlike status. Kipper has amazing saves and looks pretty solid.

The argument that luongo is overrated because he hasn't won anything is kinda fucking stupid, it takes more than one player to win a cup and the forementioned goalies who won cups and vezinas all had pretty fucking good teams behind them, with Lu in net this team has the best chance it's ever had to win a cup so maybe that's why ppl are so high on him.. I think he is an amazing golie when he's actually in the zone and probably one of the best golies that the canucks have ever had. However, there is just too much hype for him. He's seriously not at a god level yet in my opinion.
It's just funny how he wins a game a everyone forgets about those which he lost. So wouldn't that make him a superb golie instead of a god?? (IMO)

Of all the Canuck players Luongo is our best chance at a stanley cup as of right now.
He is the best goalie this franchise has ever seen. He has had his God-mode moments and he is a great goalie. I can see where people are coming from saying that you can't say his name in the same sentences as Broduer and Roy - not until Lu wins a cup or other hardware. That is fair enough. But you can't deny his greatness either. When is career is said and done, than the debate can start.
Who you guys think will win the games tonight..heres my sportsaction picks i think i may go with..
PHO < NYR (I'm iffy on this one)
NYI < MON
MIN < CHI
TOR < ANA
all home teams.

Give luongo the chance and he will run with it! He has heart and determination, Winning the CUP is his #1 goal.
If the canucks get deep into the play-offs no team will stop LUUUU!!!!!

People are down on him because of the odd gaffe. Well guess, what, even the best have "the odd gaffe", and the one whom most consider the best goaltender ever, has had by far the oddest. I mean, Roy rarely screwed up, but when he did, it was one for the ages. Does that diminish his standing? No. So should Luongo's brain-farts diminish his? No.
It's got nothing to do with his lack of playoff success so far - as Hondaracer notes, that's the whole team's problem. You can't ever pin that on any one player. Dismissing the guy's talent and skill because he makes the occasional mistake is the thing that's ridiculous, because ALL the greats screw up at one time or another, no matter how good they area.
