To see Bernier get $2M a year and Wellwood's numbers were way better than Berniers even though Bernier got to play with the twins at the begining of the season is a slap in the face.
I truely believe Wellwood wants at least $2M a year.

I truely believe Wellwood wants at least $2M a year. | On some level yea it would be, but I think the main difference is the Canucks didn't offer to pay him that salary rather they were forced to.
Just like when Kesler got his offer sheet amount, he was definitely over paid. But when he signed his new contract shortly after it was back to market price. So things have a way of working themselves out. I'm sure he was getting paid more than some of the Canucks at that time too.

I think Wellwood is a good player, but just needs a chance to play with decent ice time with guys who do not have hands of stone like Pyatt.
My guess is Pyatt will go unsigned and end up playing in Europe or hanging up the skates.

I assume the 1M+ was after bonuses because I'm pretty sure his salary was around the $900,000 mark. I think Wellwood brings a lot to the team and that been said I think deserves around $1.5m/year, I’m not too sure about paying him $2m/year though.

I truely believe Wellwood wants at least $2M a year. | That and I'd give the emergence of our 3rd line to his credit as well. All of sudden our 3rd liners like Bernier and Raymond started to become an offensive threat at the tail end of last season when the lines became a little bit more solidified.
I think I'm starting to see what he meant when he said in the beginning of the season that he's more of a playmaker than a goalscorer, which is why he was quite surprised to have lead the team in goals at the beginning portion of the season.
Just my observation.

No one get's paid in post tax dollars, but different places have different tax rates.
BTW, years ago when the cdn dollar was very weak, I remember hearing about players who played in Canada were getting paid in Cdn dollars so after conversion, they were making less than some of hte players in the US.

Last year Bernier's contract was $2.5M. Now it been reduced to $2M.
Burrows is getting $2M a year after the last few years of getting $500K and less a year.

Actually, third most expensive for tickets, after the Leafs and the Yankees... fifth-worst for overall affordability, including parking and concessions.
Out of JUST the NHL, most expensive tickets are Toronto... then Vancouver, Rangers, Avs, Habs, Flames and Oilers.
Let's not forget that the 6 Canadian teams (1/5th of all teams in the league) account for fully 1/3 of the league's entire income...

That being said, as much as people hate and bash the Leafs, there is just *THAT* many people who are interested in hockey in that neck of the woods.

But only as a 3rd line center or rightwing on the second line.
But then again they picked up Nik Anthropov so who knows.

But with the Raycroft signing, this can be helpful for us. If he signed for dirt cheap, imagine someone at the trade deadline wanting a goalie? I mean Raycroft isn't THAT bad.

The 25-year old defenceman recored 10 assists in 77 games last season. He also tallied 196 penalty minutes, which was second in the NHL only to forward Daniel Carcillo.
