He was digging for a puck in the corner and there was a stick around his skate. I think he just caught an edge, and fell backwards, not even looking for a call. It was a matter of him falling at his own will, looking to get up and continue on with the play and the ref made that brutal call. So what now everytime some one falls accidently its a dive? lol.

yes i agree those calls are weak-ass....but if burrows wouldnt dive so much and play up injuries this could have been avoided

I'm glad the NHL is looking into the allegations and not throwing Burrows under the bus by giving him a hefty fine or suspension. I wonder if this ref will do Canucks games moving forward...

Kesler does it too when he tries to draw penalties. But the usual response is to withhold marginal calls and err on the side of non-penalty. Not disregard blatant calls, or go out of your way to fabricate one. That's the moment the referee stops being a referee.

I was playing NHL 10 earlier and this Auger looking ref called burrows for a phantom holding call!
it happens in the video games too!!!

but seriously.. I am anxious to see how the Canucks face the adversity and how the following games will be called. The focus will be on the refs for the upcoming Canuck games thats for sure

I think everyone, including burrows, is over reacting to the ref's comment.

Let's just chill it. If the canucks won the game, no one would be complaining. We're all just jumping on the Burrows bandwagon and following his move.

There will always be bad calls (Yes I agree those were horrible calls), just like how Lu will play poorly once in a while. Should we replace Lu because he played poorly in many games, just like how we should fire the ref who made horrible calls in many games?

I think most of us are just angry about the fact that the ref may have been unfair to the Canucks. I don't think the refs were against the Canucks. I just think he's a bad ref who makes horrible calls occasionally. For the last game, it may have been a coincident that he wasn't on the game standard and gave bad calls to the Canucks.

Wow, you need to first of all go work on your Engrish buddy, that made my head hurt. Second of all, go get your bi-focals checked, there was no "coincident" that the ref was an asshole, he clearly wanted to stick it to Burrows, and in doing that, screwed the whole Vancouver team. And unlike Luongo, who is a super star goalie, if the ref makes horrible calls in many games, then yes, he should be held accountable for that and punished.

The issue here isn't about one or a few bad calls, it's about a ref who had a personal issue with a player and decided to make calls against that one player the entire game which ultimately cost the Canucks the game. Obviously people are going to ask if Burrows would have said anything if we had won the game but who knows, in some ways it's a good thing we lost because it sheds light on this ref and his questionable calls.

Exactly! It's not a big deal because bad calls were made (although that sucks, it does happen all the time). It's a big deal because a ref's PERSONAL VENDETTA against one player affected the outcome of the entire game and sunk the entire team.

It seems like you two have jumped to conclusion already without hearing from the other side. Hopefully Burrows gets out of this mess because I don't want him to get suspended, but let's not jump to conclusion yet.

Why don't we let the nhl investigators find out the truth first? In the mean time, let's just chill and look forward to the next game (tomorrow).

My point in my last few posts here is to have us chillax and look forward to the next game while the truth reveals itself.

There is no point in making a fuss about it on RS for the following reasons:
- nhl doesn't care about what we say
- we don't even know the truth ourselves
- we're not burrows nor the ref

Instead, let's discuss about things that we do know for sure: Henrik standing, the next game against the Wilds, or even the bad calls that the ref made.

The ref being biased to the canucks is not a proven fact. Therefore, we shouldn't ruin the ref's life.

Sorry, but before you start jumping on someone for their Engrish skills, you may want to take a refresher course, as well.

You have no clue when to stop your sentences. There should be a period after the word 'buddy'. There should be a period after the word 'checked'. Sentences are complete thoughts.

I'm not perfect at English, either, so I try not to be too much of an asshole about it.

Just pointing it out, buddy. Plus, you made the poor English skills pretty much a big thing.

Having perfect English is not a prerequisite for joining this forum. I'm pretty sure if he was calm, he wouldn't have made those run-on sentences.
I don't think anyone on this forum proof reads his own writing before posting. I certainly don't....

U can obviously tell by the tone of Burrows voice that he was quite upset, and very emotional talking about the whole thing. U dont do that if ur lieing. And im pretty sure Burrows is no Drama major either.
