Falling apart though? Canuck fans are so quick to hit the panic button!! RELAX and take a deep breath!
We just loss 3 in a row. If you look at the Western Conference standings, Chicago, Calgary and Dallas have each loss their last two and us, LA and Phoenix have lost 3 in a row.
Although the Ducks and Wild are getting hot right now. It's a 82 game season, take the highs with the lows. We still have some bodies that need to get back into the lineup aswell!

I'm actually shocked with the Kings. They were nearing the top of the West when they played us last, now they're barely holding onto 8th spot. And just remember folks we lost our 9th home game in a row on Jan 31st of last year so lets not panic over a 3 game losing streak, there's still tons of hockey to be played until end of the season.

Another night, another potential controversy for the Vancouver Canucks.
Following Wednesday night's 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks, Minnesota Wild tough guy Derek Boogaard told reporter Michael Russo of the Minnesota Star-Tribune that Canucks' coach Alain Vigneault had sent his players out to deliberately start fights with the Wild.
The Star-Tribune is reporting that just prior to his fight with Boogaard, Canucks forward Darcy Hordickhuk told him: "The coach is making us fight you guys."
Hordichuk was given a five minute major for fighting and a 10-minute misconduct on the play.
Just 20 seconds later Alexandre Bolduc challenged John Scott in a completely one-sided fight in which Bolduc reportedly suffered a shoulder injury and looked dizzzy as he left the ice.
There was one final fight in the third period as just three minutes after the Bolduc-Scott tilt, the Canucks' Tanner Glass fought Shane Hnidy.

I like Broduer..i really do, Even tho Yzerman and Babcock will take the risk on the goalies and lines to make this team the best
It is known publically that Babcock loves Luongo. There will ALWAYS be a bias for goaltending depending on who the coaches favor.
At the moment, Both Broduer and Luongo has the ability to play giants in net, but as I have said b4, Broduer has the puck moving skills that Luongo doesnt

I remeber we still got 10 mins left when we were down 3 goals, if they handle it well, there is a possiblity that we can score at least 1 or 2 goals and perhaps just perhaps we can take it to OT.
I found the team still needs to discipline themself better, teams were falling apart when they kept on fighting and just randomly dump the puck or shooting at the net blindly.
Basically they just handed the game away to the Wild after their 5th goals.

And I don't think anybody has faced a Ovechkin-Kovalchuk-Malkin line before.

Interesting article written by Mike Brophy: Kovalchuk, Ovechkin to KHL? Quote:
BY MIKE BROPHY
sportsnet.ca
Could the lure of $20 million a season cause Ilya Kovalchuk to leave the NHL and return home to play in the KHL?
At least one NHL general manager thinks it is possible.
"(Alexander) Medvedev is on a mission," said the GM, who requested anonymity. "He’s paying (Sergei) Fedorov $14 million this season so how much do you think he’d pay to get Kovalchuk? Twenty million a season? That’s what I’ve heard."
Medvedev is the president of the Kontinental Hockey League.
Considering players in the KHL do not pay taxes, nor do they pay escrow like they do in the NHL, if this is true then Kovalchuk stands to make a lot more playing in Russia than he could in North America. Not only that, there has been speculation NHL players could face another salary rollback during the next collective bargaining agreement talks.
Kovalchuk, currently 11th in NHL scoring with 26 goals and 50 points in 39 games, is in the midst of contact negotiations with the Atlanta Thrashers and there is all kind of speculation the team will trade him if they cannot get his signature on an extension. It has been reported he is looking for in the neighborhood of $10 million a season for 10 years.
Said one NHL player: "That is impressive. For one year, wow, that's like six-to-seven years here after taxes."
Considering the Thrashers are struggling at the gate, it seems highly unlikely they could pay one player that kind of money – unless, of course, they sign him in order to sell the franchise. There is speculation the owners would like to sell the team and they suspect it is worth more with him than without him.
A number of teams have expressed interest in acquiring Kovalchuk, but they must decide if they first need to get his name on a contract as part of the deal or can they risk taking him as a rental player only to have him leave at the end of the year. It could be costly to a team to trade for him and then have him bolt in the off-season, the way Marian Hossa did after his short stint with Pittsburgh two years ago.
Kovalchuk isn't the only player in the sights of the KHL. A source told sportsnet.ca Washington’s Alexander Ovechkin is so upset about having to pay 18 per cent of his salary to escrow he is prepared to consider leaving the Capitals after this season. Sources say Ovechkin expressed his displeasure with having to pay escrow during an NHLPA conference call meant to talk about the direction of the organization.

That's bullshit. Ovechkin knows better. I can't imagine that a kid that loves hockey and playing against top-tier opponents like Ovie would even think about going to the KHL.
BTW: Ovechkin negotiated his own deal...so I'm sure he knew about the escrow before it happened. Also, the last time I checked, Ovie had a balls ton of endorsement deals here in North America...which pay him much more than he loses to the escrow. The second he bails to the KHL, all that stuff goes bye-bye.
That and the KHL and the NHL have rules against poaching players from each other that are under contract. Apart from the whole Radulov thing since that was a technicality, both leagues have honored those rules so Ovie isn't going anywhere til 2021.

It's no wonder most teams are drafting NA players and staying away from EU players. Sad in a way because so much talent is been overlooked because of the BS that comes with the KHL some EU players.

I don't think Ovie will go anywhere. There is a chance the NHL will take part in the next winter Olympics in Sochi. If he jumps ship from the NHL to KHL he pretty much can kiss any chance there is of the NHL participating in the next Olympics.
I found it astonishing that there are only 24 Russian players in the NHL. 24! That's so low, and this trend will continue because of the Russian league where a player past his prime like Sergi Federov makes 14 million with no taxes.

| Joseph announces retirement Quote:
Thursday, January 14, 2010
Former Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Curtis Joseph announced his retirement on Tuesday. He said goodbye with 454 wins, fourth all-time in the NHL record book. Joseph ended his career in his hometown of Toronto, where he remains a hero to Leafs fans. He leaves the League as the goaltender with the most wins to have never won a Stanley Cup, but has no regrets.
