Tough to say if Gaborik will sign for $4 mill, I think it'll be over $5 mill. He's an big impact player; look at the impact he made for the Wild this past season when he returned to the lineup. They almost made the post season because of him.

This day and age everyone looks at the players being so greedy making top dollar but for some reason with Gaborik I have a feeling money isn't everything.
Remember Demitra is getting old and Gaborik is only 27 he has lots and lots of time left if his hip issue is fixed and has lots of time to rack in the big bucks which he has already done.

^ maybe with some luck he'll take a bigger discount so that nucks get more space for another player which could help bolster this team's offensive capabilities ..? one can hope right ?

again, a long term deal could be in the works, but with gaborik thats a high risk situation
it would be great to have a full fledged sniper though
personally id probably rather have sedins + gaborik than go elsewhere
but fuck.. are we remaining too soft?

I hope we can sign Gaborik with a discount but I agree, long term is too risky, he's injury prone.

Why do people keep talking up the past history with Demitra? Like that's ever going to be a factor.
I doubt he'll take $2 to $3 million less just because of a friend and I doubt that just because he enjoyed playing with Demo, doesn't mean there isn't countless other quality players in the 30 teams within the NHL.

Imagine if the twins played on 2 seperate teams. That would teach them to be a little more humble. (J/K)

I think Gaborik turned down 7.5 from the Wild. No way he'll sign for 4-5m. If he were to sign here it will be for at least 6.5m even with the "discount" if Demo can convince him.

makes no sense at all
why would daniel sedin play center? not to mention that most people think henrik is the more valuable twin anyways.
luongo for heatley would be overpaying. luongo is worth more than heatley under normal circumstances, but now that heatley has demanded a trade and even given a list of cities, there's no way ottawa will get fair value for heatley.
lastly, putting schneider in net as our full time #1 doesn't seem like a good idea at all.

I totally forgot. Most people here are for Gabs but do you know who our coach is? A.V
(A. VAGINA)! He is a defend first coach. Cost us a series in the playoffs. We would have been swept by Detroit but still. Everyone Remembers Game 4... Up 1-0, 12 shots the hole game or something stupid? You think the players came up with that plan?
LYNCH AV!

No wonder I wasn't getting updates on my Blackberry on the Canucks thread. lol.
Anyway, it's funny how I said we should sign Gaborik before and everyone shot that idea out the window and I come on here and all I see now is everyone thinking we should sign him. haha. But I do agree on a short term contract and see how it plays out. He also turned down the offer from Minnesota cause he doesn't want to play there anymore. Doesn't mean he won't take less elsewhere.

Might cut wellfeed... | A player like Henrik is more valuable if I had to pick one.
Why would OTT trade us Heater for Lou ..? They picked up Pascal for a reason and besides Lou is way more valuable to this team than Heater considering Cory isn't proven yet. Quote:

| Game 4 was up in the air, if we had won; you'd be jumping on the wagon screaming he's a genius. If you really had watched the game, you would have taken notice that the shutdown was working. The Hawks were effectively demoralized and we were so close to taking that 3-1 lead in the series. You can blame it on the plan AV took or you could blame it on Mitchell playing the puck to the boards instead of down the middle which was wide open. One mistake and Chicago jumped on it, kudos to them for capitalizing. Swept by Detroit? This is playoff hockey, anything can happen. Our team was built to handle teams like Detroit, SJ, Calgary etc, just shows how much faith you really do have in this team though.

My only question is did he refuse the deal because of Jacques Lemaire and is he now thinking about staying with the Wild because of a new coach?

The Hawks weren't demoralized considering how the team just let the Hawks walk into our zone so that everyone can play cheat defensively and play positioning hockey. It was a matter of time and AV gambled they would run out.
But who the fuck would gamble like that on a ultra-offense team like CHI with Kane, Toews, Sharp, Versteeg, Seabrook & Havlat to name a few.

Game 4 talks again huh. Lets make some things clear first. First of all it wasn't Mitchells fault that Havlat got that chance. If you watch that entire sequence again you will notice that there were multiple mistakes in a row by the Canucks and Mitchell happen to be the last one. Of course noobs will only notice and remember whoever fucked up last. Go watch it again it wasn't Mitchells fault.
Second of all yes we only had 12 shots or whatever but we did have multiple odd man rushes in the game. However, due to our lack of ability that game to do shit with those odd man rushes not only did we not get any good scoring chances out of it but we didn't even manage to generate shots with those rushes.

if we give them that 12 year deal, the cap hit would be about 5 million. lets not forget that they turned a 3rd line grinder into a 28 goal scorer. they even managed to get a complete garbage player like pyatt to pump out 20+ goals.
it'd be nice if we could get a real sniper like heatley or kovalchuk to play on the RW with them but it'll probably never happen.
