Some of my colleagues are die hard leafs fans. It's good to see people supporting their team with passion. That's what being a fan is all about.
:Werd:

I never paid much attention to hockey until the '94 playoffs, when my neighbor got me hooked... and I've been DRIVING the bandwagon ever since. Even in the dismal Messier years, I watched every game I could, always believing that THIS game they'd catch a spark and turn things around...

Are you guys glad we had Gillis as GM last year when we went on our crazy losing streak? Imagine if we had a GM like Sutter during our losing streak.

looks like a bunch of 3rd liners, and Iginla

Have you watched hockey this year? Dawes, Conroy, and Kotalik are fucking TERRIBLE. Langkow is older than time itself and in sharp decline, as is Iginla. Hagman and Stajan are castoffs from one of the worst teams in the league, and Higgins best days are behind him.

Theres a reason theyre the 2nd lowest scoring team in the league, and thats it. Langkow and Bourque on your top line? Seriously?

So i've been listening to Flames radio for the last 20 mins and all the fans calling in including the host think they might be a deal in the works for Kovalchuk.

its gonna take alot more than that...look at what the hossa rental cost a few years ago

and they would have to PAY atlanta to take kotalik's contract

They *might* have gotten Kovy for a signed Phaneuf, but thats about it

No sense at all. Darren Dreger was on VS tonight and he said ATL's GM is looking for at least 5 players so I can't see a deal in the works but who knows what Sutter will put from his ass.

One of my buddies just told me she met the Green Men today during a journalism thing.

The dark green one is Adam Forsythe - http://www.facebook.com/adamforsythe17
The light green one is Ryan Sullivan - http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?...m&id=512318665

And apparently they get free tickets from the Canucks organization now, but only to the seats next to the penalty box.. LOL

She asked Sully's GF if she was proud of him, and she's like "I guess.." LOL

Absolutely horrible trade for Atlanta that makes no sense whatsoever.

Kotalik is a horribly shitty player. 2 more years @ 3 million per and a healthy scratch for 7 of his last 8 games. Dustin Boyd is meh and that 1st round pick will likely be in the late 10's/early 20's

If Atlanta really wanted Kotalik then they could have went directly to Glen Sather and gotten a much better package from him.

Flames are essentially a bunch of 3rd/4th liners with the exception of Iginla, Kipper, Jaybo and Regehr.

Actually some of the callers threw in Iggy's name as possible trade bait, lol god Flame fans have lost their mind.

They just played the interview with Jokinen and he sounded choked, called the trade "a slap in the face". Prust on the on other hand seems ok with the trade.

i dont know wat your problem is, but obviously u have a hard time reading or atleast understanding what you read.

First off, Hagman and Bourque are not 3rd liners. I wouldnt even say Stajan is a 3rd liner.

Second, i said "on paper" this team looks like they shouldnt have a problem scoring, and im pretty sure alot of others would agree with me there.

Third, to ur Langkow Bourque Top Line comment. If u actually read my post i said "i know theses arent the actual lineup"

Wtf?

No way and that's too extreme an expectation or comparison. If all goes well, I imagine CoHo would be more like Toew's as a player and in production.

article to jokinen trade.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=515892
Shortly after playing more than 15 minutes for the Calgary Flames, Olli Jokinen became the newest member of the New York Rangers.

Jokinen, 31, along with forward Brandon Prust, were officially traded to the Blueshirts after Calgary's 3-0 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday night in exchange for forwards Ales Kotalik and Christopher Higgins.

Rumors of the trade first surfaced on Sunday night -- just hours after the Flames completed a seven-player blockbuster that sent defenseman Dion Phaneuf to Toronto.

Jokinen has 11 goals and 24 assists in 56 games with the Flames this season. He was acquired by the Flames from Phoenix at last season's trade deadline. Prust, 25, has one goal, four assists and 98 penalty minutes. The pair is expected to make its debut with the Rangers on Tuesday night in Los Angeles.

"It was a long day," Jokinen said after playing his last game with Calgary. "Obviously, I heard everything (Sunday) night. I was kind of surprised. I obviously wasn't expecting to get moved. It's part of the business. I've got to move on. It's tough.

"I settled my family over here. I was hoping I could stay here the rest of my career. That's the way it goes. It goes with the salary. You make $5 million, 11 goals is not going to cut it. It's definitely a slap in the face to get traded. But this is what we do for a living."

Jokinen spoke with Flames GM Darryl Sutter soon after Monday night's loss and was informed of the deal. It didn't give Jokinen and Prust -- who played less than eight minutes against Philadelphia -- much time to say goodbye to their teammates before each quickly headed home and packed a bag for L.A., where the Rangers are finishing a three-game road trip.

"Olli was one of my better friends on the team," Flames winger Eric Nystrom said. "It's tough seeing this side of the business, but they're trying to get our team going in the right direction and if these are the moves they have to make, then as players we just have to accept it. We don't have much of a say."

"Obviously, I heard everything (Sunday) night. I was kind of surprised. I obviously wasn't expecting to get moved. It's part of the business. I've got to move on. It's tough."
-- Olli Jokinen
Prust was drafted in the third round (No. 70) by the Flames in the 2004 Entry Draft. He has two goals, six assists and 231 penalty minutes in 89 NHL games.

"I'm looking forward to the opportunity of going to the big city and playing in Madison Square Garden," Prust said. "I've never played there, so I'm looking forward to it. I'm sad to be leaving all my buddies here and a city that's become my home. But at the same time, I'm moving forward and I'm looking forward to it."

Higgins was acquired by the Rangers last summer in the deal that sent Scott Gomez to the Montreal Canadiens. He had six goals and eight assists in 55 games. Kotalik signed a three-year deal worth $9 million with New York prior to the start of the season. He had just eight goals and 14 assists in 45 contests.

"This business is about winning," said Jokinen, who will become an unrestricted free agent this summer. "We've won once in the last 13, 14 games. We all knew there was going to be changes."

For most teams, it's their top line that contributes to most of the offence. Now, look at that lineup and name me one guy other than Iginla that is a surefire top line guy? There are none.

I understood your post completely, and I said that ON PAPER, AS WELL AS ON THE ICE (clearly), they are offensively terrible.

Maybe I was exaggerating a bit, Bourque and Hagman could be 2nd liners on a bad team, Stajan is VERY borderline and has inflated numbers because of 1st line minutes in the weak eastern conference. That leaves you with one legit first liner and 3 borderline top 6 guys to score most of your goals. And the proof is in the pudding. The Canucks 2nd line has scored more than any combination of a "top line" for the Flames that you can possibly make, and that would only be if Iginla wasn't playing with plugs like Conroy because he has no chemistry with anyone else.
