i wonder if there's gonna be any tension between kesler and luongo haha
Unlikely.
Since it was Kesler that scored on Luongo. Ultimately Luongo won but Kesler should have no hard feelings as there wasn't any "cheap shots/plays" by Luongo that impeded team USA.
^
I would hope they're grown up enough to get past it haha.... but Kesler looked DAMN bitter at the end, and they definitely had some nasty words when Kesler was poking Luongo in the first period after the whistle blew... and Kesler did say that he had wished Luongo luck but that Luongo didn't return the favour... so haha... yah... who knows hey? They didn't seem all chummy like Demitra and Luongo were after

Of course they did. Same with the US women's team. It's not like most other sports, where everyone takes a short turn and it's done. The losers here have just been battling HARD for three hours - they're exhausted, frustrated, and emotionally spent, and especially after tying it up in the last minute, to have that high ripped away and crushed... damn straight they look bitter.
Did you see the clip with the Canadian who took 5th overall in the 50k nordic? Same thing - he's just been cranking it out for 2.5 hours *SOLID*, only to come up 1.5 seconds short of winning the whole thing - how's THAT for a pisser? And yeah, he was emotional, frustrated, spent... on the verge of tears. Don't blame him for an instant.

That was unbelievable. I felt so sorry for him. The interview was difficult to watch. 1.5 seconds from gold. He had nothing left. How he got that close was unbelievable...... best finish ever for a Canadian. Hats off to all athletes who gave it their all.

that was an awesome interview! he said it how it was -- 2.5 hrs, and was within 3 ski lengths of getting a gold -- still we all respect him!

How wrong you are...haha.

Luongo said he was comforted by the home crowd, and the familiar surroundings, but all will not be comfortable in the Canucks locker room this week.
Kesler talked some trash to his NHL teammate after scoring in the second period, and his public comments touched on sensitive turf because Luongo is loath to admit weakness.
Kesler is known as one of the league's most grating and cocksure players, and Luongo certainly heard and saw that during the Olympics.
"He's a teammate, but this one stings," Kesler said when asked how the two will co-exist in the Canucks' dressing room. "It's going to take a couple of weeks."
I posted about my encounter with Kesler last week at Barnone in the hockey thread and the guy is one cocky mofo so i wasn't shocked about his comments. He better lower his ego and learn to stfu before he's shipped out of Vancouver and to be honest with you guys I've lost respect for him over the last 2 weeks. There's a respect level that you should have for your teammates especially for the captain of the team you play for but this guy just can't get enough himself and thinks he's gods gift to hockey. I hope the Canucks fans boo him when the Canucks return home.

I found kes to be an alright guy, from personal experience, hes pretty easy going and when he had his small accident in the parking lot, he wasn't being a douche or anything. Then again, the stories out of yaletown about this guy.hahaha regardless, the pressure on him to sell the burke underdogs hype is bigger than any other american player, simply becuz the local and national media here will most likely want to speak to Kesler before any other US born player due to his NHl club

Let's face it, the media will poke and prod to get the response they want (and if not, they'll be happy to "misquote" a bit... take things out of context a bit... it's just journalism, right? All's fair?
I wouldn't get too worked up over things said in the heat of battle. Those emotions certainly aren't limited to Luongo and Kesler - there were lots of other games that pitted NHL teammates against each other as well. Most of these guys understand quite well, how to play up to the media.
