And I hate when people say good teams will find a way to win. Well this isn't basketball this is hockey. Everyteam that makes the playoffs are good teams and has a legitimate chance of winning the cup. Its supposed to be an even playing field and when the officials/league starts to put a team at a disadvantage of course any team out there could or would lose. Posted via RS Mobile
sorry for post whoring, but there are just so many things i wanted to say....
I wonder if the league will work our way in the next few games, 90% of the people including players, coaches and sports analaysist dont really agree on what Mike Murphy's opionon about that disallowed goal.
Even Ron Maclean showing a wtf look on his face during the phone interview with mike murphy.
I wonder if the league will favor us, I remeber few games after the Burrows' incident, we've scored some nice goals and ref were sort of favoring the canucks.. lol
its a naive thought, i just put it up for fun
ya just watching that youtube clip just shows it it was one of those wtf moment Ron mclean the whole time ya can tell that he was like wtf is this douche talking bout....
as per people pressing the panic button not yet...never give up until there is no more hope...
the refs are against the Canucks now the canucks need to figure something out and come out blazing in these next few games.... the Canucks can do it and Bobby Luo will start game 4...
The problem this year is pretty much the same problem last year. undisciplined play and also no one is moving the bodies out of luongos way. Last year it was byfugly this year its smyth and handzus.
Ok, seriously, I'm sick of the bad officiating, but come on.
Stop whining about the officiating. Canucks had 3 penalties, and let in 3 PP goals.
Good teams DO find ways to win, such as not being 0/3 in the PK, even if there's
one disallowed goal.
There's been times when I seen Canucks dominate the Kings.
I rarely seen Kings dominate Canucks besides getting PP goals.
That's the only reason why they are winning the games.
They just wait for PP, pop in some "easy" goals. And that's all they have to do.
Canucks' momentum is gone.

The real issue here and the reason why we're down 2-1 in the series is the lack of puck pressure while on the PK.
We've outplayed the Kings 5 vs 5, but we're taking too many unforced, undisciplined penalties. We aren't moving our feet, hooking, grabbing, unnecessary stick work.
We rectified that in Game 3 by taking 3 penalties. If you can get away with taking only 3, that's usually pretty good.

On the PK, there isn't enough pressure on the point men. Ryan smith is having his way in front of the net, Luongo is having to work too hard to see the puck.
I think the problem is the fact that the Kings have two very mobile defenceman in Johnson and Doughty. Doughty is a "freak of nature" in the fact that he can easily spin away from Canuck forwards that pressure the point. How many D's in the league can do what he does? No very many, I'm afraid. Mike Green can only dream of having Doughty's poise with the puck.
Traffic in front of the net is a reality in the game now. It's up to the goalie to "fight through it", or the forwards to block shots. You can't cross-check players in the back anymore like the old days. The thing is that Smyth actually has hands (though he hasn't scored from his office yet), while Bernier doesn't.

I also felt the crowd noise was a significantly louder in LA than in Van. Yes, I know staples center holds more fans, yes i know this is the first time kings have been in playoffs in 8 years, but dammit, we're Canadian and hockey is out sport, the noise level in gm should be through the roof but that hasn't been the case so far.
Maybe because it costs less than 100 bucks to sit in the lower bowl? Maybe because the real fans can no longer afford to go to games? But, I digress.
all I will say is this..conspiracy or not, what we have seen last night, some shitty calls against the Habs in game2, weird calls against Detroit, and again, last nite really hurts the integrity of the league. of course, only us Canadians and die hard fans will really notice this.
The integrity of officials was already in question when Burrows called out Stephan Auger
Doughty is a "freak of nature" in the fact that he can easily spin away from Canuck forwards that pressure the point. How many D's in the league can do what he does? No very many, I'm afraid. Mike Green can only dream of having Doughty's poise with the puck.
I'm not buying into the Doughty crap. 1 man does not make the team like how our leading Art Ross winner cannot single handedly win the series or Ovechkin or Crosby singlehandedly make it to the cup alone.
We lost because we're 0/3 on the PK and 0% on the PP. Plain and simple. Our PK is just content in their own-zone box and not really forcing LA to make quick or pressured plays. Vice-versa when we're on the PP.
Also, I sometimes hate that some of our players are classy. Luongo keeps getting run into by players but sometimes I'd wish he'd pull the same kind of assholeness Jonathan Quick did on Daniel Sedin; Turco it up maybe and slash some legs entering in your crease. This is the Post Season and hockey could be over by next week.
The disallowed goal issue has been beaten to death already and it’s still not even noon! I might as well have a take on it too. Before getting into the actual play, the purpose of the replay is to without a shadow of doubt confirm or deny the call made on the ice, and when inconclusive you go with the call made on the ice.
In Mike Murphy’s comments after the game, he states about Sedin, “he knew what he was doing…....what did he do with his skate at the very end, to me it looked like he twisted his toe and got a little more push on the puck and got it moving back in the other direction.” He goes onto say, “I think he knew where the puck was, absolutely yah.” If his interpretation fits the criteria created by the NHL, then that’s fine, but it seems like his interpretation is flawed based on what the purpose of the replay is. Basically the decision was with out a shadow of doubt “no goal”. It’s a very slippery slope with Murphy saying Sedin “knew” where the puck was. Last time I checked, you can’t know what a player is thinking by watching a replay. For all we know, this is what is going on in Sedin’s head at that moment:
Screw the conspiracy BS, we heard the same shit vs. the Hawks last year. Bullshit call or not, the Canucks did not come close to displaying a solid 60 minute effort. They came out guns a blazing and when they play like that, the games not even close. Come out game 4, get done what needs to be done, no issues.....come back to Vancouver show LA what home ice is.....good days effort for round 1.

^^ I know, I want to see Luongo just go Dan Cloutier on Ryan Smith or something..lol........There has to be punishment for going near the Canucks crease.
Quick's a young guy, someone needs to run the guy, or at least have some front net presense.

My take, the Canucks lost, needs to step it up, plain and simple. the PK looks like pegs out there. and just need more effort and desperation. I thought the first 10min of the game was amazing to watch.
again, the issue is with integrity, which few understand or will mention, they just wanna beat the no goal as conspiracy, but i see an issue with what is a rule, why is there bias and you kno, all that shit...
btw...heres a good goal...with NO DISTINCT KICKING MOTION
If you want to talk conspiracy, the better reason would be that LA was a massive hockey market when Gretzky was there but has slowly moved to a middle of the pack attendance number for most of the past decade. The recent success by the Kings has brought back a lot of fans and made plenty of new ones so in Bettman's NHL, that's a market he wants to exploit.
Let's face it...the Canucks are going to have high attendance win or lose. Pretty much the same with every Canadian team other than the Oilers so the NHL could give two fucks about us. They want more Americans to care so they can make more money and the best way would be for big markets like LA, NY, etc to make deep runs into the playoffs.
Not saying that's what's happening but it is in the NHL's best interest for American teams to keep winning the Cup. I guarantee you head office will shit themselves sideways if either Washington or Pittsburgh is knocked out before they can meet in the Conference Final.
Now you are starting to sound like me.
I predict in the NHL's best interest to sell the game, would be a Chi vs Phx and Wash vs Pitts semi's with the winners meeting for the Cup.
Let's face it. LA was a hot market when Gretzkey first got to LA. So LA doing well this year is quite benefitial to the league.
The league owns Phx and wants hockey to do well in the desert. If not long term, long enough to find a buyer who will pay $100M more than what the league bought the team for, and willing to keep the team in Arizonia.
Wash and Pitts are the most marketed teams, and Crosby and Ovie are the faces for the league to sell.
Chicago and Patrick Kane (an american) is a good idea for the league to promote.
And to be able to build up the love of the game to the US people, the tv contracts will be worth a lot more money since hockey is more desirable and these tv companies can get more money for ad space. More money, and they can keep feeding more money into those shitty markets to keep them alive while they try to convert more people into hockey fans in markets like Nashville, Tampa Bay, and Atlanta.
Right now, NHL is doing anything to keep NBC and Versus happy, but if they can land ESPN, omg can you imagine how bad it will be for CBC and all the CAnadian teams in the league?
Also, Edmonton, as shitty as they are are still selling out. Only team in Cananda to not sell out is Ottawa because they are in the middle of butt fuck no where.

Can't watch youtube at work, so I am not sure which video you are posting.
But I do recall Daniel scoring a similar goal this season, only difference was that he was stopping to the right as opposed to the left like last night.
Also, I think it was the "chattering" of his right skate when he tried to stop that they deemed the "kicking" motion. If anyone who has gone ice skating and tried to stop will know what I mean by the "chattering".
Look at the goal that Patrice Bergeron saved against Carolina on the empty net. When he stopped, look at the ice and you will see the uneven stop marks of his "chattering" skates.

Yes, the penalty kill was too passive in Game 3. But, when we start pressuring the points (which we should do), mark my words: one of their D-men on the point will still make a highly-skilled play to get to the puck in a scoring area. Luongo needs to make some lucky saves - there's no getting around that.
Ryan Johnson is one of the league's best shot-blockers. Yet, in the last regular season game against the Kings, Johnson went down for a block, but Doughty faked the point shot, danced around RJ's sprawling stick, made a drag move, and scored from a shot 40 feet out. If you don't call that game-breaking ability, I don't know what is.

When you're getting scored on your PK, you get gun-shy.

it was the daniel goal on a 2 v 1 breakout against the hawks, the goal u described!

That's because Ryan Johnson's an idiot. The only shot blocking he knows are the desperation slide downs which pretty much takes him out of the game.
Sure it's very cavalier of him to sacrifice the body. But watch how Kesler or Burrows do their shot blocking. Rarely do they ever do desperation slides that takes them out of the play.
Doughty only looked elite on that play you're describing because it was Doughty vs. Johnson. We didn't lose because Doughty is so awesome. We lost because we didn't play our best game. We've never given away 100% of the PK before.
