Jerry Reinsdorf's agreement to buy the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes is in jeopardy, according to reports from TSN and ESPN.
Citing unnamed sources, TSN reported on its website that the deal with Reinsdorf, who owns the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bulls, was in trouble. The report states the City of Glendale has asked Ice Edge Holdings to return to the bargaining table as a backup plan to buy the Coyotes.
Last month, the city voted unanimously (6-0) in favour of Reinsdorf's proposal and voted 5-1 against a bid submitted by Ice Edge, a group of Canadian and American businessmen.
ESPN reported on its website that Glendale city council is expected to file documents Friday morning accepting a new lease proposal from Ice Edge and agreeing to work exclusively with the group moving forward.
Citing sources, ESPN said Glendale must guarantee a number of conditions with the NHL before the league will consider agreeing to sell the team to Ice Edge.
The report said that if the city does not agree to the league's conditions, it is possible the NHL will instead move quickly to finalize a purchase agreement with Canadian billionaire David Thomson and move the team to Winnipeg.

Rules aren't really changing.. Canucks just feel entitled for calls to go their way cuz they're playing "clean" and by the book. Even AV said at the beginning of the series that he trusts the refs will make the right calls LOL.
Yeah, Hawks are being a little dirty but it's not being called so what you gonna do? Bending the rules is part of the game.. They've just been smart about it. Can't lose your head and take dumb penalties or start blaming the refs and panicking when you get behind.
Even the media is starting to irritate me in this series... case in point: Vancouver Sun today, O'Brien tells them in an interview that maybe they should stop talking about Buttfucker because he is feeding off the attention.................. so what do they do? Devote the entire front page of the sports section to 2 articles on how he grew up and how awesome he is and what a difference maker her is. What the fuck? That's the last thing I want to read about! All the Canucks talking about their gameplan for tonight is on Page 2?
Buttfucker got 30 points int he regular season! THIRTY! His 3 goals the other night were his first 3 of the damn post-season this year and he's *still* a minus player. If he's so fucking great and has such amazing soft hands for a big guy why isn't he the second coming of Eric Lindros?
