I'm liking Shirokov but what's surprising me the most is J. Eberle. I mean I knew the kid's good, but I didn't think THIS good.

You geeks, I posted like 10 pages back that Linden was signing on Saturday at CIBC... it's for real... it's the new CIBC at the corner of Hwy 10 and 152nd... Panorama Village...
I work next to there, there's a small sign on the door to the bank promoting it and I was just there this afternoon so it's still on/for real.

And considering the Canuck parade to the penalty box, Shirokov is barely getting ice time. He's brilliant though the few shifts he gets to have.
One thing I noticed about Shirokov though is his play w/ the puck with or without a scoring chance. The guy doesn't waste puck possesion.

If Mats Sundin wants to continue his NHL career, the Vancouver Canucks would roll out the red carpet.
"We're interested in having him back," Canucks GM Mike Gillis said. "We were very happy with Mats last season. It took him a while to get going, but we were pleased with his performance."
Sundin was offered a two-year, $20 million contract by the Canucks prior to last season, but didn't join the team until midway through the year. He scored nine goals and 28 points in 41 regular season games and scored three goals and eight points in eight playoff games. The 38-year-old Swede is said to be in negotiations with the Canucks and could sign a contract valued in the neighborhood of $2 million to be the team's second-line centre. Vancouver may be prepared to make a trade if it is necessary to fit Sundin under the salary cap, if necessary.
"Mats enjoyed his time in Vancouver last season and is looking forward to playing with the team this year," a source told Sportsnet.ca.

I swear I read that somewhere but everything I found on the net says he missed training camp because he is unsigned and if he does sign, that makes him ineligable for collegate hockey.

If Shirokov ends up being even half as good as our other famous Russian, I'll be very happy!
