Demo phones different than normal one? (N96) Someone recently offered to sell me a demo version of the N96. The guy said that everything on the phone is the same, even the firmware. Just that it has a Demo sticker on the back. Does anyone here know the difference between a demo phone and a normal one? IS there a difference in functionality? I wouldn't want to waste $300 on something like a playphone =s |
Do Not Buy It. /thread |
Any specific reason? ><; |
Well, now that I think of it a demo phone has two meanings: Pre-production unit: This will have different build quality internally and externally, usually comes with pre-production firmware but it may have been updated in this case. Production unit used for test-drives: Basically, the guy lets people play with this phone before they buy. Kinda like a demo car @ a dealership. This is more or less buyer beware in the cellphone case because no warranty is offered. Usually these cellphones are beat up in some way or form, but other wise are equal to any other production unit for sale. Demo-toy phone: Well..you obviously don't want to buy this cuz it's a toy phone. I don't see a reason as to not buy it if it's good condition, comes with accessories/box..etc whatever tickles your fancy. You just want to make sure what kind of demo phone it is and where/how it was used..etc. It's not rocket science. |
They dont have CE stamped in the back. Not suppose to be sold to the public. No warranty. I've used one for a bit, everything worked fine. |
