I was in the market for a point-and-shoot camera for my fiancee... ended up getting a Panasonic Lumix ZS3 because I want to have 12x optical zoom. It was a toss up between the Canon SX200 and the Lumix... Canon gave me more customization but its zoom is fixed when taking a video (720P by the way) while I can zoom in and out with the Lumix.

Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

Hands down the Fuji. No comparison. The image quality is out of this world for a small P&S. For low light and dynamic range, no other P&S comes near it. None.

Bad points (for me):
- lens not wide enough.
- video quality is VGA.
- no RAW.
- no optical viewfinder.
- no histogram.
- limited manual exposure control.

Well, it all depends on your needs. If IQ is the most important to you, then the Fuji wins hands down. A client of mine has the Ricoh and he complains about the noisy files. You may like the ergonomics and handling of the Ricoh - that I don't know, and only you can answer that. Take a look at the Panasonic LX3 too, but the LX3 is more expensive - $200 vs. $600ish.

i know its not in the same league but i have a panasonic tz4 and i played with a lx3 recently at lens&shutter. doesnt feel like you get that much more for your money. for something twice as expensive i thought the changes would be more obvious. it is a little sleeker and built a tad better but it lacks the zoom which i didnt like.

The TZ4 is a good camera, but it lacks RAW capability and the lens is not very wide. The LX3 may not be for the people who want a far reaching zoom, but that 24-60mm (35mm equivalent) f2 lens is a sweet one. You get quite a bit for the extra money, actually. RAW capability, full manual control, large sensor for a P&S resulting in higher dynamic range and better low light capability.

The Fuji's lack of RAW is mitigated somewhat by the amazingly wide dynamic range, so the jpegs actually look good unlike many P&S cameras.
